I was looking for a deeper explanation of how secretor status has an effect on the foods one digests.

For instance, how can bananas and mangoes be an avoid for an A, but with a "non-secretor" status, they become beneficial?  What's going on that's so different to make such a drastic change?

The main question I'd like answered is:
If I was a client that this occurred to, how would you guys explain this change to me?

I'm not quite understanding, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for those posts C_Sharp.  They are definitely informative with regard to what secretor status is.

But I want to know how it has such a drastic effect on the foods you eat.

I have a type O friend who was saddened that avocados were on his avoid.  We did a secretor status test and it turns out he is a non-secretor.  This moved avocados from a total avoid on his SWAMI to a beneficial with a diamond next to it.  He asked me how that can happen, and I honestly did not know.  How does one explain WHY this happened?

The two examples go to neutral rather than beneficial.

Currently I eat no bananas, but some mango.

After you have followed the diet for a while you may be able to sense which neutral foods are okay to eat in limited quantities and which are better left
uneaten.

If one changes the nature of the digestive system, than the foods that one can digest are different.

As the material linked indicates digestion is different in individuals that do not secrete blood type antigens in the fluids of the digestive system.

Remember the blood type diet is based on the presence of particular blood type antigens.

When the blood type antigens are not present, the game is different.

For my mother who is an A+ non-secretor, bananas went to beneficial with a diamond next to it and mangoes were in the beneficial as well.  Which we found to be a very interesting thing because when my mother was pregnant with me, the only thing that seemed to calm her stomach were avocados (another beneficial w/a diamond) and banana milkshakes.

And thank you for the other explanation!  Your words definitely have helped me envision and understand more.  The way you stated the process helped the science (physiology) behind it sink in.
I'm always appreciative of other's points of view, my understanding of things because so much more stronger and well-rounded.
