Recently, I had to meet my husband somewhere, going up 2 big flights of stairs. When I got there, my heart was beating strongly at about 120 beats/minute by my guess. I don't know how long it went on as we were going somewhere, walking 3 blocks. When we got to the "L" train station, we went up another long flight of stairs that I usually navigate fine. Then the palpitations began again.
The culprit, I think, was the Lara Bar I had about an hour earlier. It is one of my few cheats as dates are not on my BTD/SWAMI approval list. Even if they were OK, the Lara Bars are quite concentrated natural sugar & since I have low blood sugar, I bet that's what the problem was.
I usually have them at home & don't do vigorous exercise for some time after eating them. So, this was a gentle warning to go easy on them!
Another cheat that I hadn't eaten for several years was potatoes. Then in recent years, I found that if we were out somewhere & there were few options, I could occasionally cheat & have them. I even slept better afterwards. But I think I must have had them too close together recently & notice crackling knees when doing certain exercises. I surely don't want to lose the ability to exercise & knees support our weight!
Just thought I'd share a couple of friendly warnings I got! Anything to add?

my friend just had a episode with 130 pulse.. her enzimes where high.. Lucky for her they went down again...
Her pulse at 130 was like that of someone having finished hard core exercises..
her high pulse rate was also accompanied by dizzyness.. and tightening of the Jaw- a sign that the heart is in stress...
she is home with several pills.. including aspirin.. at our age we should walk with aspirin in our pockets for the time we need to give the heart a helping hand..
I would buy a small pulse oxygen meter I think they are small clip on things for abnout 25.. even at more than that : They are worth the Price , as they provide instant answers and often put the mind at ease when we think we are pulpitating.. it is nopt always so.. Peace of mind is worth a great deal..
Good luck and all the best..
Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!
