I just got my secretor status back this morning, and turns out I am a secretor. I finished the website questions and have all of that info plugged in. Apparently labeled as Hunter, which I guess, doesn't really surprise me. I was surprised at the taste strips, I really didn't taste much of any difference on the yellow strips vs the placebo strips, where as my girlfriend immediately was like blahhhhhhh, taste like aspirin.
Anyway, I thought with the secretor status that might open up a lot more choices of food compared to what my book had showed for non secretor. So I was comparing and I'm really confused on something. I purchased the app off the play store, and thought that would be a good tool for when I'm in the store of things I could buy. But so far unless I'm doing something wrong, I'm highly disappointed in the lack of agreements.
For example the app shows garlic and Portobello mushrooms are neutral, where as the web report for me shows Portobello and garlic are not only avoids but black dotted. I eat a ton of garlic in all my cooking and even squash, yellow, zucchini, I love, and the app shows all varieties of squash neutral, however my web report shows avoid with a black dot.
Anybody else find this, or am I doing something wrong here?

Since your question is already answered, I will note that the black dot indicates that these foods MAY be added back to your diet in moderate quantities after the initial adjustment period, unless you choose to leave them out or remove them again if weight starts to climb or in case of illness...
I think the question was not answered.. Not why the differences, but: need I do without it? garlic the issue here..
If the BTD suggests you can have one item I have no issue following that with 'loads'. It is good enough.
Yet if Geno type or SWAMI indicates differences, then I would upgrade to that and 'suffer' the differences.
Some foods are a habit, on addiction, even garlic can be that, a comfort food. Swami is way more up to date, even though the old early books have great learning value. I would always suggest you get them and read - some library's have some of them ask for them.. the learning has great value for you and when talking with others.
Garlic is mostly misused. It is more a spice then a food. Spices are medicines, to be used cautiously and judiciously. Eating to much might throw off other needs.
Now then again if you had any one food under the allowed 80/20% rule, then every 4 month you might have a very delsih to your tatse meal to get your emotional needs taken care of. Eating for emotional connections is as much a need a is the body health requirements.
I have a similar issue, in cancer prevention 'they' say coffee is good for it and altzheimers, both potential issues for me.. I love coffee over most drinks.. but as O I should avoid it.. so what do to? I compromise with decaf.. at least I am not burning out my adrenals. I also make more liquid enter my mouth by making soups with lots of broth. Any thing to add liquid. anything to change my coffee as a habit and taste prefferance.. Habits- though but worth working on all the time.
Could you try new recipes and lessen the need for 'loads' of Garlic? to on occasional treat? At least slow the 'need' down to normal occasional use? Deal with the addiction and emotions connected? at least think about it?

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!
I had forgotten about the terminology of the black dot, I was thinking those were the ones to do the most damge, but those are actually ones that you can add back. Weight isn't an issue for me, being a male of 5'7" and 155 pounds, 16%body fat. My main focus of this program is twofold, one...A slightly high/positive ANA titer of 1:160, and life long sinus issues/infections.
I am evaluating a balance between swami and the app itself. My main focus is wheat products and dairy products. I've already eliminated all cheeses except for a little mozzarella for sandwhiches. My sandwhiches area utilizing a rice flour. I've made my snacks celery and I was doing carrots but I see that is avoid too, I need to investigate that some more. I've replaced green tea from my coffee, and it's okay, but I might spoil myself and enjoy a cup on the weekends. I love peanut butter but I've replaced it with almond butter. Sweet potato chips replacing all the other chips I would eat on occasion. Although I will endulge once in a great while with Mexican food that I love, and tortilla chips n salsa, sweet potato chips n salsa does not sound appealing, lol.
My protein shakes are pea protein right now, though I think I will go to soy protein. That has replaced my weigh protein, that I had no clue was dairy. Learning a lot, and finding this lifestyle will be more expensive to maintain. Like anything else, seems like to eat better, is more expensive.
I don't use many spices when I cook, but when I do, usually garlic is one of them. I don't mean to imply my house smell like an Italian kitchen where everything is garlic, it's just one of the few spices I actually season food with.
