"YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT INITIALLY on the Type O Diet by restricting your consumption of grains, breads , legumes, and beans. The leading factor in weight gain for Type Os is the gluten found in wheat germ and whole wheat products."

D'Adamo, Dr. Peter J.; Catherine Whitney (1997-01-06). Eat Right 4 Your Type: The Individualized Diet Solution (Kindle Locations 840-841).

It looks like this doesn't apply to everyone.  Any other Os been on the diet more than 1 month and not losing weight?

That was my situation too, but I didn't let it bother me.  I didn't start eating this way just for my weight issues.  I was concerned with bettering my over all health.  And I know that the body heals in the order IT wants.  Often the body wants to heal other areas before it will address weight loss/gain.

Thanks.  I guess I'll just try to chill out and not worry about it.  So many other things have gotten better that I almost don't care...  That is until I put on pants that I want to fit...

Hi, I am an O neg non sec and have been dabbling with btd for a good while and have to report no weight loss...but...that doesn't mean that I'm failing on this new way of eating/living.
I have just done my swami and my results do conflict a little with my btd and my gtd but I consider that my results so far are evolving in a positive way and are not just about weight loss. For me my menstrual cycle has really improved and I was really worried about pre-menopausal symptoms, which really do seem to have been rectified, this may be because of the swami diet but may also be because by getting swami my knowledge has generally helped me to increase my awareness of my whole being and am in the zone for helping myself in a much more easier and 'user friendly' way. For example it has taken away normal inconsequential decisions like choices...still or sparkling water when dining out...swami says sparkling so I go with it. It's a bit like trusting your sat nav I'spose...
Also, I don't know about anyone else but having swami just makes some decisions easier, even with things like moisturiser creams and shampoos, if these products have compliant ingredients then it would appear that my skin and hair feel better too. I wonder if this is a general consensus or not...maybe a thread should be started on this alone...?

It - like almost every other diet statement that can be made are general statements that there can be exceptions to...  BCgal stated most correctly that when healing, each individual body decides what needs to heal first and proceeds accordingly.  There may be major issues that we are unaware of that the body heals before the things we think are the priority...

Oh well, in either case, we are better for having done the diet.

when I stay true then at least I gain way less..

but initially I did drop 20 pounds, and never put them on again..

yet I got healthy in so many ways.. all is well.

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

HolisticFox, I don't remember if you have said whether or not you have gotten your secretor status yet.  Have you?  If not, that will help you fine-tune your diet to more closely fit you personally.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.

of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

Exercise is crucial as well as following portion sizes.  Swami could help you refine your choices and suggest portion sizes based on disease processes in your body and how much you are exercising...

I have been going 5 months and have lost 40 lbs and my health is getting better and better...

I still have 40 to loose but my health and how I feel is amazing.  No I"m not perfect and I have overeaten on some days but I have slowly have gotten to 99% compliancy as far as the food suggestions, as I have found that Dr. D is right on with the science.

I wish you well.. keep going...

I'd already been off wheat for over a year by the time I'd found BTD. I'd been on low-carb for a while, and lost some weight that way, but then I plateaued for months. I decided that the low-carb wasn't working well for me, and I knew that I was still eating *something* that triggered the fibromyalgia. I was thinking of just cutting out corn, but decided to try BTD instead (cutting out corn along with a whole bunch of other stuff at the same time.)

It had been a long time since I'd eaten rice, black beans, or a significant amount of fruit or starchy vegetables (such as carrots, onions, and sweet potatoes.) I overdid the carbs and gained 5 pounds the first month (the same five pounds I'd been yo-yo-ing for the past half a year.)

I've been on BTD for over 3 years now, and I still haven't lost all the weight. I have about 30 pounds to go- but I've done a lot of other healing. Whenever I start to feel strong enough to exercise regularly so I can't resume weight loss, new symptoms seem to develop that slow me down again. It's frustrating.

So HF, can I assume that you started BTD and have not lost weight?

If so, I wonder if you had been steadily gaining weight prior to BTD and now have leveled off?  Or at this time of year, would you typically gain weight and now you're not?

And you're sure your blood type is O...

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.
