Hi,

I have a type B girlfriend that gets cold very very easily. She also bruises very easily and has fatigue frequently.I looked up possible causes: hypothyroidism, anemia, etc. She's been taking an iron supplement, but it hasn't improved. I'm thinking it's hypothyroidism...

Any suggestions? Bladderwrack, some other supplement?

advise to follow her plan, find out her secretor status to target accordingly to heal her gut and thus absorb the nutrients at a cellular level

she needs to feed her cells right

I dont know much about it, but when I was younger I was always cold. Even after my pregnancy anemia was corrected. It wasnt until I put on an extra 40 lbs that I had opposite issue, and for many years. Up until a couple of months ago (still overweight) but I went on a suppliment that helps my insulin resistance. Now my body isnt swimming with too much insulin, and I get sooo cold again.

I know my problem is opposite, but maybe her insulin is too low. Im certain the diet will be a solution over time.

A few thoughts . . .

Is she eating for her blood type?
Is she getting a well-balanced diet - meaning, enough protein, good quality fat, fresh vegetables and mostly plant-based carbohydrates?
Is she eating appropriately for the season - meaning, when the weather is cold and damp, is she eating hearty, cooked meals . . warming spices, such as ginger, roasted and baked root vegetables;
How is her weight?
Is she getting enough of the right kind of exercise?

I can’t help you with this one because I get cold easier than others around me.  I always have.  I remember a story told by my parents friends that when they met me for the 1st time at 6 weeks old, I was turning blue on the couch from being cold in their home. So I’m just here to listen to the suggestions.  I do not bruise easy and I’m not fatigued.

Taking a supplement may not help if her gut is compromised her absorption may be off-- and that needs fixing on the inside.

I would look at chinese medicine and warming foods and combine that with the blood type recommendations.

Hi, I’m not sure about fatigue and easily bruising but here is my experience with getting cold easily and having dry skin:  Before BTD I got cold very easily too and always have wear a sweater at work(cold from air condition in the store).  My skin was so dry that I could see the flakes on top of my arms and legs (ash) because of my poor diet. I never knew that I have to eat more oil and spices. Then I learned that SWAMI recommended I should have 1 tablespoon of fat and oil for 8 servings weekly.  For spices, 1 teaspoon for 3 servings daily.

I try to follow that as much as I can then before long, I stopped feeling cold easily and my skin had much more moisture and the flakiness disappeared.

If possible find out her recommended dosage from SWAMI because it may be different from mine.  SWAMI will give her a well balanced diet which should help her greatly.

Definitely get her thyroid checked - make sure they test her antibodies for Hashimoto's disease. A lot of endocrinologists do not check the antibodies. Hashimoto's starts in age 30s and 40s.
