Welcome to another month of our Eating Disorders Cure Group, 2013
I lost our other, old thread again but being more current is great!

Our Group's Mission Statement:
1.) We recognise that all of us are epigenetic BE-INGS, and are on the path to eliminating compulsive overeating, bulimia, anorexia, and any other eating disorders not normally addressed.

2.) Here, we do not suffer from Orthorexia, the "health food purist fanaticism" of  misguided folks  who "eat healthy" and still suffer mentally and physically. Our beneficial and diamond foods, and our eliminations of "avoids", along with Dr. D's suggestions for "living"  bring continued healing the Blood Type and Genotype Way!

3.)When combining these principles with spiritual and psychological helps, we achieve more wholeness as the days pass, and move beyond our previous limitations that 'western medicine could not cure.' We have even found ourselves arriving at those points of feeling a 'peace beyond all understanding' as part of our continued cure of our eating disorders - priceless!

There really is a place for you here and a thread for you to call "home" as you visit this site. Won't you join us this month as each member persues his/her epigenetic cure towards permanently eradicating Eating Disorders? Feel free to introduce yourself and to seek out any additional counsel from any D'Adamo forum members, or to schedule an appointment at Dr. D's teaching facility with his trained clinical experts to begin your individualised path. "All the best!"

Welcome, October

Changes in season and cuisine! Would any visitors like to post about yummy fall weather foods they are now "able totolerate" that they weren't able to eat in the past before they started their healing path? Or maybe Fall foods they have substituted that are still as yummy but "don't bring on the crazies" as old trigger foods?

My initial thought: having become intolerant to most grains, this month I would like to see if I am tolerant with Amaranth; I have been leaving it out of the equation altogether because of my bulimia-elimination path from September. If I find I am tolerant to it, my new fall food would be an Amaranth Brownie.

thank you  Higher Power for the ability to eat thick Pea Soup - so yummy for fall!

Regarding amaranth, I quite like this seed-like grain,, however it is not recommended for people with starch intolerance, and including it would hasten recovery of the intestinal wall healing up, or lead to damage re-occurring.  I used to cook amaranth mixed with a little quinoa to lighten it.
Almond meal/flour can be used to make yummy brownies, cookies, cakes.  Or try pecan meal/ground pecan nuts, hazel nut (filbert).  Some people following the SCD also used cooked white navy beans which have been soaked, cooked, drained well and pureed as an extender rather than using 100% of nut meal to add nutrients or cut down on cost of almond meal/flour.

Sorry to get back so late to you Ossie - what is SCD, and can those beans be put in an electric coffee grinder to produce fine flour?   or are they too big

Forgot to mention that there have been several WALKS going on all over the nation as part of the push for healthcare focus on critical-need treatment. This weekend's walk is in NYC, and there's still time to register. What would YOU wear or be out saying to people if you participated in a NEDA walk?

https://www.facebook.com/photo.....p;type=1&theater

(I think I would make a special shirt, talk about Dr. D'Adamo's work, our Forum, and this group and our Fresh Start Group. I would get a blank tee from a craft store with some iron-on lettering and make a bunch of just 1 type flyer from the Share Right Program to be handed out for free to those interested in learning more! I think I would wear cargo pants to hold all those flyers )

'Am I Cured Yet?' Measuring Eating Disorder Recovery Is Subject Of New Study:

http://www.eatingdisordersonli.....subject-of-new-study

It's about time.Enough of the old "I have a lifelong disease that has no known cure, and I'm selfish and self centered when I actively participate in it."

We have now living proof that the Blood Type Way and epigenetics point the way out of chemically-based sickness and dysfunctional thinking.

Mano, Isa. I'm talking total cure, here!

I'm not talking about the midpoints along the way as they are in the article. You are speaking to a person that even the Rader Institute for Eating Disorders did not "save". I am talking about the most entrenched cases of bulimia and anorexia.

"Where eating disorder research is failing, said Dr. Neal Anzai, director of eating disorder programs at Berkeley's Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, is accounting for the recovery outcomes of adults. More research is still necessary for this population, he stressed."

And this is exactly the stage where the gut has suffered the most exposure to avoids for plenty of years. It is my priviledge and duty to fight for truth on behalf of consistently afflicted adults who, like me, would stop and start in recovery and not know why. Examples of such are to be found every day on http://www.supportgroups.com. And I will continue to fight for their freedom. On this one little thread. And out on support walks. With pamphlets and D'Adamo information and eventually my own blog just like Ruthie, et al. The epidemic of adult bulimia in the USA among those who have never had eating disorders before is growing.

Ah Seraffa!  thank you for starting this thread. I'm not a bulimic or anorexic but a compulsive overeater who gained weight because I couldn't stop eating and I never could starve myself (except when on a DIET - BAD WORD), and I never could get myself to throw up after a binge.

Starting and stopping in recovery?  I know it well.  45 years of it.  Starting and stopping with the BTD, GTD, Swami in hopes of finding recovery?  I know it well.  Starting and stopping with overeaters annoyonomous?  Oh yes... I know that well -too well!!  It was only when I started going to those OA meetings and sharing my deepest struggles and realizing I was not alone and begin to work the 'spiritual' aspect of my life in a way I had never done, that my 'miracle' came.  And it was a true miracle.  One day I found myself free and now a week shy of 5 months later I have lost 40 lbs and people are astounded at how I look.  It's almost embarrassing how they go on!!!   Does this mean I'm done with recovery?  Taking a lesson from the past, the answer is NO.  But this time around I have a much greater chance of survival for continuing to live in freedom because I have these tools (in no particular order) that keep me sane:

1) SWAMI!!!!!
2) Exercising daily (A MUST for me!!!) and not obsessive - overdo it exercise.
3) My 12- step program
4) ... which includes a continual deepening of my walk with my Higher Power
5) Daily Amino Acid supplementation because of my bad brain chemistry
6) BTD and GTD Supplements

Now I found out about supplementing with amino acids through the book The Diet Cure by Julia Ross.  They helped get me through the cravings and they help keep my brain from falling into the deep caverns of depression and lack of hope for life - the places that I would go without them and then use sugar and junk to make myself feel better.  I have cut back to a very small amount now and maybe overtime I'll be able to cut them completely out as my brain works diligently to get itself back into balance after those 45 years of a repeated over and over cycle of bingeing, dieting, starving, bingeing, dieting, starving, overexercising, etc.

But what I have suspected and flat out had confirmed over and over and over for myself is that this is a brain chemistry disease.  And the tools above that keep my brain balanced and happy are the things that keep me abstinent.

Now I'm only 5 months in and I want to feel better!  I thought I'd feel better right away... but I'm still dealing with the gut damage I did to myself for all those years.  However, I have some improvements:

1) Clarity of mind - no more black hole darkness in my brain. (this is the BEST miracle)
2)  Restless leg syndrome - GONE
3)  Tingling burning toes - GONE
4)  Stressing out about stupid stuff (90% GONE)
5)  My judgmental and other issues of insecurity (slowly going!)
6)  Finding reasons to dislike myself (going... going... almost gone!)

However, the thumb joint pain in both thumbs and the pain in my neck which radiates down my shoulders and into my arms and back is worse than ever.  And sometimes my entire body aches for no reason.

BUT this is a healing journey and I believe that ALL of life is a 'continual' healing journey so why should I expect an overnight miracle?  I did YEARS of damage to myself - most of it ignorantly - and so it is going to take a bit to zone in on what's causing this pain and begin to work on healing it.

I have started going to a good chiro after two years of no adjustments and I have an appointment with a Natural Path to begin to dig into some of the other strange body pains I'm having that sit suspect with a Fibromyalgia diagnosis.

I'm also going to take a hard look at where some 'avoids' might be sneaking into my diet.  It seems my entire system has become 'ultra' sensitive and even the smallest amount of avoids may be really messing with my 'feeling good' factor.

I am going to go read that article you have referenced and come back to comment some more and hope to have continuing conversation here as time allows because when we share our stories.. it helps others to open up and share and know that 'THEY ARE NOT ALONE' in this disease and 'IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT.'    It's a hard road in this day and age to GET AWAY from SUGAR and JUNK. It's everywhere and it's IN EVERYTHING!!!  I do not believe one can have good recovery without cleaning those poisons out of the diet because if one does not... one just keeps spiking the brain with the sugar and it keeps demanding more.  A horrific battle as any junk/sugar addict knows well!

For me this is a disease of 'inherited bad brain chemistry.'  My family has a long line of hard core alcoholics, drug addicts, and sugar addicts.  Every one of my siblings has at least one addiction to one or more of those substances with my Mom coming through as the STAR of Sugar and Junk addiction which she then passed down to me.

I'm beyond grateful.. I'm EXTREMELY grateful... I'm overjoyously GRATEFUL that my Higher Power which I call GOD...  gave me the miracle of abstinence and the tools to continue the walk with.

If you are a compulsive overeater, bulimic, anorexic... and want to be free, chime in here.. begin to share your story.. begin to explore what others have done to find recovery.  Don't let 45 years go by or even 1 years go by before you begin to find LIFE without the disease.

In deep love and understanding...

Hey, A RECOVERY "FIRST": I was able to eat starch + protein at my breakfast, following an Adrenal Fatigue plan, FOR THE FIRST TIME WITHOUT HAVING BULIMIA!!!

This feels exactly like the first day I was on the BTD, and could safely EAT A MOUTHFUL OF PEAS WITHOUT THROWING UP LATER
It was the first time in my life I felt safe around compliant starches
Yay to Dr. D. and Dr. Lam!!
You are bringing my life back!
