The U.S. government’s $173 million Human Microbiome Project ... is designed to propel knowledge to a new level...

To add to the challenge, everyone’s microbiome appears to be unique. It is readily modified by diet, its multiple microorganisms seem to have overlapping roles, and “nobody understands what happens when all this gets modulated..."

Quoted from OP article
So exactly what are microbiota? They are the more than 10,000 species of bacteria, fungi and viruses that inhabit your gut, nose, mouth, throat, skin and urogenital tract. Professor Simin Nikbin Meydani, director of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts, likens the collective organisms to a major internal organ that is more metabolically active than even the liver.

The Human Microbiome Project certainly appears to be ambitious and cutting into new territory. Even if most of the 10,000 microbes turn out out to marginal (as they certainly will) the very fact there are new species and functions about to be discovered makes it interesting.

I imagine that once the project gets rolling there will be a steady stream of stories on the latest angles and theories. This is kind of like a Hubble telescope for medicine and nutrition.

haven t we all heard this before????

Dr D is light years ahead of the pack:

Quoted Text
FUT2 is the gene that determines secretor status, i.e the ability to 'secrete' your blood type chemical into your digestive tract. What the researchers are saying is that blood group genetics in the gut influence how diet affects the composition of the microbiome (bugs) in our body. I first wrote about this in my second book (2002).

I wish I could change my FUT2 while I go through perimenopause and heal! OH can we do this? there is that once in a Blue Moon  segment where I feel tortured as a Nonnie and wonder "what life feels like" as a secretor .

hmm Dr. Bodo Köhler, a well known BIT-specialist mentiones in his books that all
those genetic testings are for nothing coz we're modulated from the universe by different waves... so far Prof.Dr. Popp confirmed his studies...(biophotonen th.)
But he also accepted that a lot seems to be genetical related but that  the genes only reacts as a form of mirror light, resonances, tones, colours ,signales to the outer world.... all about magnetic fields etc....

We had a bright sunny day, the sun was in my eyes and the computer screen was near invisible.. I am sorry / it is my wish that you would see my apology. I removed the early on post.... Goldie.

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

A tangent of quantum physics?  I'm entertaining thoughts of a connection between the human microbiome and collective consciousness.

yup dearle... nice to see ya   and  thou let me know about what kind of energies you were talkin about;).. Köhler justamente blubbered...all the same justamente but all in changes... in the TCM-system... so far I won't begin to talk about scarlar waves...nor glycolytic waves nor whatever;) ... coz I realized..justamente only another approach and system (builder) we...the 5ves are sooo
constructive..... ....
I justamente love the idea of C.G.Jung...and yess another systembuilder... but merely seen as an isf = 9/1 in the enneagram......no? so far  for my opinion much clearer and easier to understand *in the integration of the shadow* then theories of da grande but outsourced maestro Freud...
