PawPaw rate highly on some people SWAMI's, so we sometimes get questions about where to find them.

In the US you are only likely to find them from late August to early October. (and people are not likely to find them outside the US. Although they will grow elsewhere)

You are not go to find them in chain grocery stores since they do not ship or store well.

They were at my local Farmer's Market this morning.  They would also be at some road side stands. Also in the woods, if you know where to look.

Now is the time to get some, if you want them.

They taste wonderful and can be eaten raw.

Pawpaw is a diamond for me.  They grew wild in our schools & back gardens when I lived in far north queensland.  I loved the red ones especially.  I always wonder what the differences are between papaya (neutral on swami)& pawpaw.

I think that in Austraila, what you call a paw paw is actually a papaya.
The following link explains the difference:

Thanks for this info. In Australia, this fruit gets called paw paw AND papaya, which only adds to the confusion. The fruit in the picture C# has posted I have never seen here. Good to have clarification - papaya is a beneficial for me.
