Hi.  Am a Newbie here.  I have been on the Blood type diet off and on for several years.  Need to stay on it always.  My question - why are avocados an avoid for O type blood?  If I know the reason why a food is an avoid I am more likely to follow the rules and not eat it.  I don't like to just take someone's word without any explanation.  I'm a real rebel!  Hope someone out there has an answer for me.

You can look at Typebase for some information:

For instance:
This food contains a lectin (with a link to read about the lectin.  This lectin is not blood type specific.

The Persea americana agglutinin partially inhibited the mitogenesis of lymphocytes when the cells were treated with concanavalin A, or with bacterial lipopolysaccharide.

This is not a reason, but I thought I would point out that it is not an avoid it you are an O-nonsecretor. If you are unaware of your secretor status you may want to think about getting it checked. Avocado is not the only food that changes in value.

My mother is an O secretor. She still occasionally eats avocados because she likes them a lot, but can feel the negative effect from eating them (headache).

MIfHI                            I follow a SWAMI diet.

I am a rebel as well...    Avocado is a most popular food in our places, grown and marketed in numerous varieties. My late father grew Ettinger avocado trees in our orchard. It was so tasty and comfortable and had lots of uses in the "cuisine". When I decided to start blood type diet I just took Dr. D's word for everything! So many avoids for O are such basic, popular, beloved foods: cauliflower, lentils, oranges, cucumbers, that if I stopped and wondered, I'd like never get there! So I stopped these foods cold turkey.

I am Jewish and was brought up on the Torah (=The Pentateuch, but also generally the on the entire Bible, i.e., the Old Testament). It says that when the Children of Israel received the Torah at Sinai, they said: "We'll do and hear". In the course of following, mainly thanks to following, the ability to see and hear and understand is gradually made possible, and what used to be hidden causes is gradually revealed. This is also my attitude in the case of DPN. It works miraculously as it were - as it were, because it actually follows the rules of Nature, and a number of ailments just vanish even upon beginning it. I am conviced it is a gift from God, through Dr. D. This is not only philosophy, following BTD/GTD/SWAMI actually enhances my cognitive abilities.

Thank you for asking! I wanted to share this for some time...
