Just curious is earwax a problem for more than just me, is it hereditary or does being a non secretor have something to do with it or could it be blood type. I went to the doc today to remove a bunch of wax, about once a year now I have to go in and get it done, takes away the itching and I can hear better. Think that diet might have a little to do with it but not sure. What's the popular consensus?

As a non-secretor...growing up I had many ear aches and loads of ear wax.   Also went to the doctor to have them flushed and huge chunks would come out.   When I got older my doctor suggested that I use a water pic on them...gently.   Since Blood Type Diet...nadda.   They used to get itchy when I indulged in diary.   Sometimes when it is really humid they do and there could be a slight bit of wax, but nothing to really notice.    Love this way of life.

Go to a competant ENT. I had this problem for years. The family doc would use a water pik on them and proscribe antibiotics. The ENT found out it was a fungal infection. She gave me antifungal ear drops and instructed me to wear earplugs in the shower.

Hey Debra, yeah I'm gonna lay off moldy foods, cheese and wheat and see what happens. As I get older the problem has gotten worse, probably the last 4 years or so. The environment may have a little to do with now that I think about it, life is pretty damp in the PNW. Right now though my ears feel great and I had to turn down the car stereo a bit. Wish earwax were a precious commodity could probably pay off my car. To an ENFP no such thing as TMI, hehe.

Hey gulfcoast guy, the nurse practitioner told me growing up, for swimmers ear her grandma prescribed 2-3 drops of warmed Vodka as a remedy. Sounded effective and fun to me. Antibiotics would probably make the condition worse if it is fungal. Used antibiotic ear drops for swimmers ear once after a week my ear was still plugged the doc said I should keep using drops but the scrip said otherwise so I quit using them, low and behold my ear cleared up in 2 days, was having a reaction to the antibiotics it seems. Awe the life of the nonie, ain't it great. At least we stay pretty longer!

Thanks Lola,
Looked thru some of the older posts looks like a lot of people have the issue, wheat seems to be a common thread for many. Wheat does a number on me physically, aches, stiffness and general malaise. Also have had some gastritis lately my guts are probably kinda roughed up from eating wrong. I need to find the right diet to heal my innards that should help with the ears hopefully.

My right ear gets more wax and feels pressure-ee when my bowel is out of wack.  It's not necessarily due to my eating off program, but with my liver congested right now it's affecting my system.

Hey BCgal,
The reason I don't take supplements anymore is because of my liver, after a few days I would just get toxic and couldn't sleep at all. I would start going crazy then I would remember why I don't take supplements so I would stop, and start to feel better pretty quick. Another thing that would ruin my day is those popular lemon water flushes the same deal my liver would get overworked and congested until I stopped. According to BTD, As have more problems with liver but it seems now certain genotypes specifically explorer have the most problems regardless of blood type. Read somewhere else that blood type A non secretor have the hardest time with supplements and detoxification of heavy metals, from personal experience I would concur. Good luck.

try the Liver cleanse on pg 252 of the GT book
Castor oil penetrates deep into the skin thanks to its molecular mass, which is low enough to

Last month, one ear needed cleaning out. The first time ever. The Dr. called it wax, but I'm sure it was soap. Told me not to use Q-tips anymore. Fat chance. Virgo says nooooo....

Prior to starting the BTD over 10 years ago i had to got to the doc at least a couple of times a year to get my ear wax cleaned out (lots of wax and big chunks, Ewww).  Since then on occasion i get wax buildup, nothing like before.  I just use debrox to clear it out now.  I think it's diet related, i'm guessing when it gets built up now it's during times i'm not as compliant with my diet.

Haha!  To an ISTJ there isn't either.  If it gets too gross, we'll just start laughing....or make our exit.

I don't have too much wax, but I do have perpetual bubbles behind my left ear drum.  Doc said it's not infected or stopped up with wax, it's just there.  Cutting out dairy doesn't make it better, but some types of dairy makes it worse.

BTW, my 6 y.o. used to have dark orange wax constantly pouring out her ears.  It was gross.  We thought she was a B and she was eating a lot of dairy.  After a re-test, she turned out to be an O, and we removed the dairy.  Her ears are normal now.  As is her balance, and her speech is clearing up too.

I'm confused, Paul.  Aren't you following your Teacher diet or SWAMI?

So was that to be taken internally or topically?

I am sure that diet helps the ears.  Also not using soap in the ears works.
I know we want to keep them clean-looking, so we can wash with a rag & rinse gently with water.  In the old days when folks weren't so fussy about cleaniliness, I am sure there were people with dirty ears that showed. Yuck! Now we want to be so clean that we often injure our ears. I know I did that.  With my diet better, I don't seem to have to worry as much about dirty ears!
Since dairy is a cause of ear infection, I am sure avoiding it would not force the ears to produce the wax to try to protect themselves.

Hi Paul,  yep, my ears have always been a problem.  I do remember one particular time when I was having rice milk smoothies every morn that my ears became very badly blocked and I stopped and they went back to normal.  You could find if you kept track of your diet and when you're having more probs with your ears you'll find the culprit/s.
