By shakes, are you meaning the blood type protein powder? I use the powder regularly. It has a different taste but is pure and a good choice for us. The sky is the limit as to combinations. I mainly use pineapple juice as my base and then start adding. My usual additions are frozen raspberries, blueberries, and mango. Then I add the O protein powder, chia seeds, Dr.D's larch powder and Harmonia powder. A squirt of olive oil and whip it up. It usually whips up to the texture of ice cream and it sits really well with me. Some would probably say that it's too much fruit for them, but it works for me. It's a whole meal for me, not a snack.

I make extensive use of the protein powders/shakes sold be DNP.
It can be used directly with mixing with water.
Some people find it slightly gritty. I do not, but I mix it with a vita mix (this is not necessary).
I use it in combination with almond in the vitamix to make a milk like product for use on cereals.
Most common use is in green smoothies (combining it with lecithin, ARA, Kale, dandelion, fruit in season).
You seemed to want to just mix it with fruit. I do that two but not as often as with greens. Again I use fruit in season. Blueberries are probably best and they work well when frozen. Also use strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherimoya, sapotes, plums, pears, dates, figs, prunes, grapefruit, lemon (not alone), lime, pineapple, kiwi, mango, cranberries. Peaches/nectarines would work well but they do not rate highly for me.
DNP sells a carob syrup that they recommend combining with protein powder/shake mixes.
Yes, I'm sorry, I was speaking of the Blood Type protein powder. I thought it would be handy to have on hand if i wanted to use it for a meal replacement. I love the idea of adding greens to it also. I will try your ideas. Thank You!
Some people like to soak a serving of the powder overnight in some of the liquid. So if the texture is not to your liking, give that a try. It is not (to my understanding) a powder that totally dissolves in liquid.

I am planning on purchasing some of the protein powder from DPN. My friend sent me a link for Shaklee (very popular mainstream company) but it had soy and other avoids and it was MUCH more expensive than DPN products.
Since I will be a student again with a hectic schedule, I figure, I can have the protein shake and mix it with some almond milk. My version of "fast food" on the go. It will be much healthier than the Starbuck's breakfast sandwiches I tend to grab in the morning. Even if the almond milk has some additives which are avoids, I figure, on the whole, it will be better than these sandwiches and the ingredients in the protein powder will override the avoids.

It is a cold, luscious, filling, energizing drink perfect for after my workouts. And, it only takes about 5 minutes to prepare. And, the last thing I want to mess with after a workout is cooking a meal. Highly recommended!
I just used almond butter, fruit, chia seeds, unsweetened cocoa and a date or 2 if it needs sweetened. I mix it in a Magic Bullet or blender and let it sit overnight to thicken up. Got the idea from Chloe. Depending on how much water you add, it gets as thick as a pudding and it's great for energy. Adding the protein powder is even better!
