Hello Everyone!

I've been GTD compliant for about 3 months.  My intestinal health feels great and my fatigue is gone.  The two major reasons why I started.

In the last month and a half I have started taking many of the supplements on a daily basis, such as the Polyvite A, Polyflora A, Deflect A, Fish oil Formula for Teacher, Catalyst, and Activator for Teacher.

In the 10 years I can count on one hand the number of times I have gotten ill with a flu or another sickness.  I even have 2 small children in grade school who come home with colds, that I do not catch.  Two weeks into starting my supplements I started sneezing heavily for about a week.  Then I completely lost my voice for a few days.  Which then turned into a bit of a cough, that has been going in an out of sore throat phases.  And to this day I still feel a lingering in my chest and have a bit of a mucous buildup (all clear not yellow or green).

Even with all these "sicknesses" I still have energy, not once have I been fatigued and my intestines are super happy.  Could I be Detoxing?!  Were all the supplements at one time too much?  My immune system is normally off the charts good.  I suppose it could be a coincidence, but I was wondering if this happened to anyone else?

Thanks for the help and insight.

I began eating a lot of yogurt that was fine for me on the GTD but suddenly I came down with almost the identical thing you describe, and I hadn't had anything like that in over fifteen years. When I ran my SWAMI, lo and behold, yogurt was a flat out avoid! I was not in the least surprised! So, if you can swing it, getting SWAMI might reveal something that you are eating now that has since been found to NOT be your best food! SWAMI is all about individualization!

Thanks Spring -
I guess I mixed up the GTD with SWAMI.  I have done my SWAMI and that's what I have been abiding by for the last few months.  I even did my secretor status.  It was just such a strange body reaction, I'm not use to being "ill".  I wondered if it was all the supplements?

It sounds like detox to me. Probably you were detoxing so heavily that your immune system  got overwhelmed and you picked up a virus. Now that you've already gone through that detox process, I don't know if it will happen again.

I wouldn't worry about clear discharge or about mild congestion that's not accompanied by fever, body pains, or lethargy. It very well could be allergies- I know I get seasonal allergies, and this is the season!

This is just my thinking, but if you feel good, do you really need all those supplements?

Maybe you do.  But if you're just taking them just because they sound like a good idea, you might want to rethink that.

I'm not saying supplements aren't a good idea.  But I think to some degree we can sometimes over do it.  As we get older, we probably need help though.  So, there's a balance between what you need and maybe what you don't.  Everyone has to figure that out for what that is.

It could be you're detoxing too.  Any probiotics might have you detox.  And it might be a good thing going on in your body.  Those supplements are certainly good ones.

try using less, yet keep your food choices beneficial, and if swamied, try some genoharmonic combos from time to time

Aloha!
Before I even heard of BTD, I was improving my eating & even did some fasting to detox.
The next year, Feb. 1983, I got a bad case of the flu & I think it was a detox of some kind. The next time I got the flu (at least I think it was the flu) was late December 2008!!!!!!!
That wasn't as bad a case. I also have gotten another mild case since then. Resting & keeping warm helped.
Our bodies are so individual & each of our stories are different. I bet you are having some kind of detox. Enjoy the nice weather which should make healing easier than those of us in the Midwest with our long winters.

JJR - I've been taking the supplements for a few different reasons.  My thought was that I had abused my body with the wrong foods for so long, I needed help with restoring my intestinal and cellular health.  I was so happy to see that even the supplements are designed with the individual blood and geno types in mind.  I could be over doing it though, it's just so hard to tell......

Aloha wanthanee!!!

I've never been through a "detox".  Usually when I have ever gotten sick, I'm down for the count.  And that it not at all how I feel.  I have the physical attributes of a sickness but without the exhaustion.  That was another reason I did not want to stop the supplements.  Perhaps they were really doing their job?.....

Mrs T O+ just made me realize something. I had recently started doing 16 hour fasts. Nothing after dinner until at least noon and I did come down with a weird cold type thing but just the symptoms, not the lack of energy etc. I KNOW I was detoxing because I lost alot of fat in my abdomen. I was struggling with constant hunger and feeling very unbalanced and fasting made all that completely go away. I originally started doing that to give digestion a break as well as alot of my friends said if they ate breakfast they were hungry all day. To my surprise this works wonderfully. I was always a eat small meals/snacks all day and never thought I could do this. Now it's 2 meals a day. My point is, I bet you are detoxing! It doesn't take long but perhaps back off some supps for awhile. You don't want to detox too fast. Eat lots of veggies, moderate protein and reasonable fats, skip the rest for now.

I totally understand.  And I wasn't saying you did anything wrong.  I was just throwing it out that maybe it's a little too much?  But there is the converse that you could be detoxing.  And that usually is a good thing.  So....  I hear you.  I learned how to muscle test myself.   I'm not saying I'm perfect at it, but it does give you a degree of maybe knowing what your body needs.  It's still not a perfect solution though.  As we can trick ourselves, I think.

Anyways....  I'm glad that you're not feeling awful through it!!!

JJR, how have you taught yourself to muscle test....yourself... I think that's a proper sentence.
