I know coconut is an avoid for O's but was just wondering if anyone else experiences sinus issues after consuming it. Here is the thing before I knew it was an avoid, it felt like every time i would drink it for a few days consistanly i would end up with a sinus infection. After about the 3 time of this happening I thought it had to be the coconut water, but thought no way, how could that be. Now this last time before seeing in BTD that it is an avoid, sure enough once again sinus issues... Does anyone else have this with coconut water? I thought it was suppose to be so great, and here it is making me so sick or so i am thinking....Any thougths please At first I was told it was clearing out all the bacteria, now I am thinking now so much!!

It is quite possible that this is your reaction to it... Put it in your avoid category and don't worry about it for a long time. Remember, the one-size-fits-none marketing talk doesn't work for us since we eat more individualized...
I don't do well with coconut water / meat, but don't remember what the symptoms are anymore...

I doubt coconut water could cause sinus issues, these issues are often due to inefficiency/sluggishness in colon/bowel function or old debris in the digestive system, or other ortgans ie liver, kidneys. coconut water much better than drinking/using tap or bottled water, as minerals in coconut water can at least be utilised by the body. A neti pot may help and is natural healing for sinuses. I used to get many different types of infections incl sinus infections, due to my past habits of mainly cooked foods, overeating, snacking, eating dairy foods, sugar, irregular routine, etc. Plenty of raw vegetables, freshly made raw veg juices, small quanity of fresh fruits, some sprouted ancient wheat bread, soaked nuts/seeds, fresh sprouts, simplifying my meals and eating earlier in the day is helping now, plus one 24 hr fast a week. Last week was a juice fast, next weekend will be a water fast; dry fast maybe next month??
lisa, If you are getting a quick reaction (sinus infection) after drinking coconut milk, suspect it. Avoids affect people differently......and in different time frames. I have very quick reactions to most things I shouldn't have. I knew I had issues with apples......I could make applesauce from scratch with apples from my own tree, not sprayed. When I got the GTD book, sure enough......apples are an avoid for my Genotype. There was also another O on here who "should" have been able to have beef but her body reacted to it. Since we are all individuals with lots of different genetic makeups, we have to be our own best sleuth. Paying attention to how our bodies react is key. If you really want to test it.......eat REALLY well for a week. Avoid wheat, corn, potatoes, sugar & processed foods (including take out/drive through)and any other avoids that you can. Then have some coconut milk. Make that your only avoid. Continue eating WELL for another 2 or 3 days. If you get a sinus infection again, you'll have your answer. Very key to keep all avoids except that from your diet during the time you're "investigating".

Any "avoid" can cause congestion. If you get excessive nasal congestion, that can lead to a sinus infection if the congestion isn't cleared out.
Of course, not all avoids will have that effect, and not everybody will get sinus infections from 2-3 days' worth of congestion buildup. And not all O's react badly to coconut water specifically; it's lower in lectins than coconut milk and some people do seem to do well on it. Clearly, you're not one of them.
