Anybody use this for joint pain? I have a friend who swears by it.
Hyaluronic Acid 100 mg 60 tabs by Source Naturals
Hyaluronic acid is a major component of joint tissue. It helps to hold lubricating moisture in joints and cartilage, which affects their resilience, elasticity, and strength. Source Naturals Hyaluronic Acid is made from patented BioCell Collagen II™, which has undergone an absorption enhancing hydrolyzation process that yields low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, and Collagen Type II peptides. These elements make it a multifaceted ingredient, which may help support joint function and the appearance of healthy skin. |

Type O's are not supposed to take chondroitin. But you can buy supplements that have only hyaluronic acid. I've been thinking about trying one too. |

Now this is news I can use. My knees are terrible. So terrible that I am thinking of going to an orthopedic doctor to get them checked out. I've also been thinking of hyaluronic acid and now I think I will try it. I used to take glucosamine sulfate (NOT bundled with chondroiten as it often is in supplement brands, because, as has been pointed out in this thread already, Dr. D says chondroiten is contraindicated for O's), but ever since the BP oil catastrophy in the Gulf of Mexico, I have stopped, as can't find ONE glucosamine company that can confirm to me it doesn't source its glucosamine (shrimp shells, basically) from the Gulf. I'm not scared of the "sweet crude" oil, but of the chemical dispersant ("Corexit"). ANYWAY: so my knees have really deteriorated since I stopped the glucosamine. I don't know if there is a correlation, as I also have been walking a LOT and lost a lot of weight, but it has taken a great toll on my knees. Sooooooooooooooo...been thinking about hyaluronic acid and I think I'll go for it. I'm going to look again for a "clean" glucosamine sulfate, too. The type of glucosamine in Deflect is great for getting rid of wheat lectin (just took some Saturday and Sunday, 'smatter of fact), but from what I understand, it isn't as good for repairing cartilege as the glucosamine sulfate is. Anyway, thanks for this firsthand info/experience re hyaluronic acid. I've heard about how wondrous this stuff is for years and have always been intrigued. Now I think I shall take my "Rice Krispy knees" (LOVE it--SO apt!) to the HFS and get some. |

I came across a glucosamine that was made from corn. That might be worse than the contaminated seafood kind. But are you sure that what is used for glucosamine has not been purified first? I'm still taking it since it has been great for an old knee injury. I've also ordered something with hyaluronic acid in it, for all my joints, which are showing their age these days. |

Not sure that one can purify the glucosamine from the chemical dispersant, once it has absorbed into the shell of the live animal (shrimp) before being turned into the supplement. Anyway, I may go back to taking glucosamine sulfate, too. What I really need to do is get my patootie (and, especially, my KNEES) into an orthopedist or sports medicine doc and get an MRI, and find out what I'm dealing with. Knowledge is power, I have insurance, and I have a recommendation for a doctor and facility that are supposed to be great...so why I don't go is a topic for a whole other thread re what a big ole CHICKEN Peppermint Twist is when it comes to going to a doctor/accessing the health care system (been there, done that, got the lifelong TRAUMA and did NOT even get the teeshirt--rip off! ). Seriously, I do need to do that, but MEANWHILE, I could at least get going on the hyaluronic acid and restart the glucosamine. Sometimes I wonder about myself. Anyway, great thread! |

Just ordered this one: http://www.iherb.com/Source-Naturals-Injuv-Hyaluronic-Acid-70-mg-60-Softgels/1468Description Dietary Supplement Injuv is a revolutionary new form of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid plays an integral role in maintaining and regulating moisture within the tissues and facilitates the transport of nutrients into the cells and the removal of metabolic waste. It is found in all of the body's tissues, with the highest concentrations located in the extracellular matrix of the skin and the synovial fluid that bathes the joints and cartilage. Optimum levels of hyaluronic acid are essential for the health of the joints and cartilage. Injuv provides the only hyaluronic acid that has undergone a natural enzyme cleaving technique for greater absorption. Suggested Use 2 softgels twice daily with a meal for the first 3 weeks. Dosage can then be decreased to two softgels daily. Other Ingredients Rice bran oil, gelatin, glycerin, purified water, beeswax, and titanium dioxide. |

"regulating moisture within the tissues and facilitates the transport of nutrients into the cells and the removal of metabolic waste" sounds like more of dysfunction of the body to take the daily water intake and distribute it...maybe you're dehydrated? |
