Strengthening the body is a must... yet all to often we spend time money and what ever only to have no clue...

One such maybe might be the eating of Cinnamon for the diabetes inclined.. but unless someone figures out the Genetics = we do here = then one would not know that one is going to be diabetic.

Answers are in food...  Cinnamon (today for me) is Beneficial.. it was avoid for many years.. could there be other spices that are essential..  I have so many spices now as Diamonds, what if we knew what each one might do for us?

Is Cinnamon as a Beneficial (now) to be ingested every other day and are only Super Diamonds to be eaten every day?

How many times a day for Cinnamon? Diamonds 3 times, Benficials only once?

Would cinnamon be worth the supplement form because they remove half the ingredients?  Are they removing the right ones?   I trust food more..

I am going to find out if I can test for it...

This takes research, etc., to either find writings from knowledgeable writers or digging into what herbs and spices help specific organs and how...

Each food family has a portion size and frequency recommendation in SWAMI.  Use those as guides for dose and per day...  I don't think there is difference in the rating depending on whether they are diamond and superfoods.

Usually when portioned out as supplements, there are added ingredients to make the item flow easier for encapsulation, etc.  However, the positive is that each portion is more tightly regulated.  If I can test it, I go with what is best.  If I can't, I usually go with the most pure and measure carefully - although that doesn't tell me how fresh it is and whether the has been potency lost through age or processing...[/quote]

Goldie, I'm curious about why you think cinnamon is beneficial for you now when it wasn't before.

On my "regular" SWAMI, cinnamon is black dot.  But when I ran SWAMI with diabetes and glucose problems checked, it became an outright avoid -- rather counter-intuitive.

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

I was diagnosed pre diabetic 3 years ago and got prescription right away. I told doctor I like to try without medication first. After 3 month try I was be able lower a1c slightly.
I still have regular check up with doctor and my blood sugar twice a day.
On last check up in February my a1c is 5.6 without any medication.

I have changed my life style last 3 years mainly in eating and after joining Swami last September I stayed with diamond and beneficial food most of time.
I used to take about 14 supplements but I changed any supplement I can find in food switched to food source and only down to 4 supplements now.

Cinnamon, Gymnema and fenugreek are good for blood sugar.
Cinnamon has to be Ceylon cinnamon and you can get from certain Wholefood store or Amazon.com.
I get Gymnema by Himalya and dissolve in the water about one hour and take it right before meal.
Fenugreek is neutral but I soak fenugreek overnight and cook with diamond or beneficial beans or grains and eat no later noon.
Fenugreek has very foreign taste but once you get used to it you can appreciate it.

As we all know everyone is different and you have to find your own.
I want to share my experience.

sunnyside, you're the first other person to mention taking Gymnema.  Does it really help alleviate sugar cravings?  What about the claim that it reduces the taste of sugar (per wikipedia article)?

Thanks

SquarePeg, it has been 3 weeks, it mat be too early to judge but it seems working for me.
I got one from GNC first and soaked in the water to see how fast it is dissolved. But it does not.
I wanted one dissolve well so I got one from Himalya and it is dissolved in one hour.
I take dissolved water right before meal twice a day.

I hope this helps you.

Sunnyside,
Thanks for reminder on Ceylon cinnamon.  I have read that other cinnamon isn't really good for us.

In my books it was avoid.. In my Swami it is Diamond..

sunnyside.. that was a good post.. keep it up.. I was able to push the real onset on for over 10 years.. with BTD, BTD for diabetes, and now Swami to reduce ill effects.

-----------------------------------------

Swami super / diamond Spices..  I have many.. would I be best of to vary them all in a weeks time and so get the effects from all...  Yes it takes research.  I might actually do that all because my new way of eating lately requires many spice varieties.. might be fun to interchange all sorts of things... take real advantage of Swami suggestions.

Goldie, adding several different spices when you cook, food comes out very tasty. You even don't need salt.
Just add Tamari and your diamond or beneficial oil at the end of cooking.
When you cook with liquid you can add any beneficial sea vegetable (nori blends well).
Tofu and iodine in sea vegetable complement each other.

I try to have 10 different items including spices and good fat for each meal, and aim 30 for a day.
It is hard but fun.
