I have just been told that I have bursitis in my left shoulder and a touch of arthritis on the tip of my collar bone. I am following my Swami as closely as I can trying to stick to the Superfoods & Neutrals & avoid the avoids... I have some questions about supplementation...
Will Bromelain help the Bursitis & Arthritis?
If so, how much should I use?
Also, I read that one should not take Bromelain for an extended period of time, but rather, during brief intervals.

Have gone vegan for almost 2 months. Avoiding all dairy products. Using vegan cheese.
Have really cut down on the wheat, but still sneaking some. Have been using bread more while transitioning to veganism. Will quit wheat altogether now.
Also, Essene Manna Bread (sprouted wheat) is a diamond for me and I have been eating about 5 - 6 servings/week. Is this still ok?

Yes. I have seen several documentaries on how animals are cruely treated as well as injected & fed substances that make them grow faster & fatter. Substances that are unhealthy when consumed by people. I have difficulty knowing that I am participating in this.
I am open to considering all information. I want to be healthy, even if it means I should have a piece of cheese from time to time.
As I think back though, the pain in my shoulder started before I went vegan. Pain started last October and I started veganism in January.

Not ALL animals are treated cruelly or fed antibiotics and synthetic hormones. Eggs and meat from free-range poultry are not part of "industrial animal farming" nor are dairy products from grass-fed cows or goats (though, technically, the goats eat bushes and such along with grass.) The point is to get animal products from animals that are being fed their natural diets, and fish from clean, healthy waters.
As an Explorer, I doubt you'll thrive on a vegan diet long-term. You need SOME animal products in your diet- just choose the purest, most natural sources possible and varieties that are OK on your SWAMI. Also follow SWAMI portion size and frequency recommendations as closely as possible.

I ditto what Ruthie said. How about a small amount of wild fish?
Wheat is a joint killer. Even worse for you if you already have an arthritic situation.

Are you sure that this is a developing issue, or is it possibly a healing one? Did you have arthritis before BTD?
Avoids in your diet should be removed to make sure they aren't continuing to cause the pain, but healing can be painful as well. Part of the healing process is removing any stored junk that the body wasn't able to get rid of before. As this happens, the arthritic joints will have a certain amount of pain/discomfort.

Vegan cheese-- has loads of avoids in it.
I would bet that a infared sauna would help your joints quite a bit..

ABJoe...great notion. I never thought that the body would hurt as it is healing. I will definately be more observant as I go. With regards to my shoulder though, the pain started in Oct. of last year (about 6 months ago). I have been observing my Swami w/a vegan emphasis for about 21/2 months now. I was resting the shoulder since then, to see if it would heal on its own. It did not, so I went to the doctor. The MRI indicated bursitis & some arthritis.
This weekend I had to go back for another MRI, because they found someting on the humerous when they were checking the shoulder. It looks like nothing. It may turn out to be some calcification. I'll check in after I get the results this week.

Andrea... Thank you for your comment about the vegan cheese.
I've received some feedback from the forum about being vegan as an Explorer may not be healthy for me. I received feedback on looking for cleaner meats & dairy from responsible sources.
On the dairy side...
I was eating the vegan cheese, but it is not very tasty. At least the ones I tried. Also, w/ your comment about the avoids in the ingredient list, I am researching other alternatives. I am looking into finding superfood & neutral cheeses from better sources like Applegate and Organic Valley. I don't mind including some cheese into my diet, but I do not want to support those companies that use milk from those poor enslaved & abused cows that are fed all the disgusting things we know about.
I have found Vital Farms eggs (www.vitalfarms.com), that are organic and their happy hens runs around the pasture having fun & eating bugs all day. I can get these eggs at my local Whole Foods Market, so I have begun incorporating eggs back into my diet using Swami portions.
I am researching turkey, squab & ostrich (superfoods). Chicken is an avoid for me. If you know of an organic, humane provider I will be greatful for the reference.
Cod is a superfood for me and I love it. There are quite a few fish on my list for superfood & neutrals. But everything you kill suffers. I don't know if there are "humane" fishing methods? At the Whole Foods Market, they have signs that tell you how sustainable the fishing methods are for the fish you are buying. But they don't provide info. about humane practices. Any feedback regarding fish would be great.

Even the vegetables you eat are living things that die when you eat them. Nobody knows for certain whether or not vegetables can feel pain when cut, chewed, or cooked- it's just assumed that they must not be able to because vegetables lack the kinds of nervous systems that animals have. I, for one, am not convinced that it's necessarily "more humane" to only eat lower on the food chain.
This is the cycle of life. Humans can't perform photosynthesis, so we must eat other living things (or formerly living things) to survive.

Phloxicin (Boswellia serrata), 300 mg (Standardized to 70% Organic Acids and 20% Beta Boswellic Acid): 1-2 capsules, 2-3 times daily Teacher Activator (Betaine HCl): 250 mg, 1 capsule with large meals Fish Oil Formula (for a total of 3 grams of EPA plus DHA): 3-5 capsules, 2-3 times daily Deflect A (lectin-blocking formula): 2 capsules, 2-3 times daily between meals Live Cell A (sprouted food formula): 2 capsules, 2-3 times daily
According to the Arthritis protocol that Lola sent you the link to, Boswellia could be a better asset to you than Bromelain, for your purposes.
Deflect can help a lot, especially if you are continuing to eat wheat. Wheat can wreak havoc on the joints. If you're going to eat it, Essene bread is probably way superior because it is sprouted and contains no flour, but I don't know if sprouted wheat will still damage joints or not.
Fish oil, or eating plenty of cold water fish is very helpful and anti-inflammatory.
