...we found that every 150 kcal/person/day increase in sugar availability (about one can of soda/day) was associated with increased diabetes prevalence by 1.1% (p <0.001) after testing for potential selection biases and controlling for other food types(including fibers, meats, fruits, oils, cereals), total calories, overweight and obesity, period-effects, and several socioeconomic variables such as aging, urbanization and income. No other food types yielded significant individual associations with diabetes prevalence after controlling for confounders. The impact of sugar on diabetes was independent of sedentary behavior and alcohol use, and the effect was modified but not confounded by obesity or overweight...

Diabetes is /might be / inherited from 3 generations back..
while they may not have developed diabetes because they did not live long enough, this is a condition that is inherent in many. People used to die within 3 years of discovering they had it.
Sugar or not, many can have the sugar and have no ill effects others stay away from sugar and still succumb eventually.
I am glad that I found out about my propensity to get diabetes long before I had to face it, because i read it in Dr D's books. With his writing i became aware that I had one parent who developed it and one sibling.. and by the time they are all as old as I am two other females at least will have it also. Another of the same family will not because she has different genes.
With awareness, becoming attuned to a situation, it is much easier treated, reduced, dealt with, then when it was not known, nor suspected...
Sugar for the next generations will be much worse, as staples of grains are absorbed by many in place of better foods.
Grains I think are much more detrimental then sugar alone. I would like to see a study done on that!
Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!
