My local Whole Foods Market sells finished escargot by the Each, @99¢.
Each shell is filled with congealed garlic butter and a cooked snail. You take it home and heat it through in the oven, and there y'are.
If I were A/AB, that would probably be on my grocery list.

I know, I know, darlin'. It was the convenience of buying only ONE finished snail that appealed to me. A gourmet medication, if you will, that you don't take every single day.  

I am too afraid to try them but anything with garlic sounds delicious.

I really like Escargo, but are they the correct snail to be beneficial?  This is the issue I had when looking for them.  Either they didn't say what the snail was or didn't say what was in the broth they were in...  I finally decided that the best way was Lola's answer...

Usually WFM is pretty good about listing ingredients in such offerings. And I suppose one could contact the buyer and ask.
But, to my mind, Dr. D'Adamo in his books, was saying that the "edible" variety of snail, obviously, was the one to get, and that one could order these in a restaurant. So I wouldn't think there's too much scrupling necessary there, my friend.

Escargot is just the French term for snail.

In some in the D'Adamo literature Exscargot is used, but snail is more common in the writings.

In France, the species Helix pomatia is what is most often eaten snail species.
The typebase entry refers to this species.

Helix aspersa is what D'Adamo uses in the supplements. This is harder to get in the US. I think it is available in France and is referred to "petit-gris" indicating it is a smaller snail.

Helix lucorum is also eaten, but I have not seen this or other species in the D'Adamo literature.

The WF I shop at usually sells snails at holiday time.  Be it, Christmas, etc.  And they are pricey.
I bought one once just to try it and it had the shell and some green cream with the snail inside.

I was very hesitant to eat it because I'm not too adventurous or exotic with the food I prefer.
But I prevailed and it was not too bad.  I would not buy it again.

But when I reorder the ARA6 I will add Helix Plus.  Thanks, Lola, and most of all thanks Dr. D!

My DH and my Mom (Bonne Maman) could not get enough escargot while we were in France! They let me taste/ savor the garlic sauce..(or in the north.. the strong, creamy, dark sauce) but I could not take the texture of the snail. My Grandmere even tried to lure me with her buttery, garlic sauce...love the sauce,   the snail!

I have been taking NAP's Helix for about 2 years.

When I was a little girl - yes, little, like: Sit on a phone book in the restaurant little - my parents took me to a "continental" (French) restaurant, and my mother ordered escargot. I loved the garlicky smell, so I asked if I could try one. I did. I...loved it. I got my own order, and from then on - throughout childhood - I always ordered escargot at such restaurants.
Nowadays I do so very, very, very rarely.

I guess that's why the individual ones caught my eye at Whole Foods' fresh Seafood counter - an opportunity to just have one every once in a while, perhaps. Don't know - haven't done that yet.

I remember ordering them and adoring them in a good French restaurant when I lived in NYC.  They were a real treat.  It's been years since I've had any and this thread is making my mouth water.

I can't bring myself to eat them. They're too cute. Cute little eyes on stalks.. I have the same problem with baby animals..like lamb and pigs... I am a true A.

  My O son feels the same way about lobster because I bought him his first beany baby as a kid..and it was a lobster.   He refuses to eat lobster...
I'd take the Helix pill if I had too but I hope it never comes down to that...

BTW: WFM Seafood is also selling individual lobster claws...Individual short skewers of prawns, individual salmon patties with peppers and stuff, individual crab cakes...Some of this stuff is, likewise, priced by the piece.

Something similar, of course, goes on at the Meat counter, with marinated skewers, burgers, etc.

I know...with me it's from growing up and snails were in books, and art and in nature art pictures along with the fairies and the mushrooms. I like the tree snail's little house. It's so pretty on some of them.

I have an image, as a child, seeing pictures in a book.  They are so tiny; plus they have their own protective shell (just like a turtle).  

Certain cultures, like the French for example, have different views about food.  I am not that adventurous.  They also eat rabbit (no thanks, I got a very cute white stuffed rabbit for Easter and have never forgotten it).  I am not judging people who have a particular choice as to what they eat; it's just not for me.

Helix Plus, to me as an A, is a protective boost for the immune system.
