I've heard conflicting stories about activated charcoal. I heard it was great for getting rid of toxins, which leads me to think it would speed up the healing process of the BTD. Being an AB, I read that it could take quite some time for me to see any benefits of the BTD because of the build up of toxins round the cells. "Like sugar burned onto a pan." So, naturally, activated charcoal seems like something that might really help. Many people who take it everyday as a supplement maintain that it helps them, and if they stop taking it, they quickly begin to feel ill. On the other hand, some people say that while activated charcoal gets rid of everything bad in your system, it also gets rid of a lot of good things, but I haven't found any proof to support this statement. Any personal experiences with using activated charcoal in addition to the BTD would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

I have taken it.
But I do not use it for ongoing use, but to treat accidental ingestion of things that are toxic. And to treat problems with the digestive system generating excessive gas. |

I took it when I had severe indigestion and just couldn't make myself throw up... and thought I might have had a touch of food poisoning from eating at a salad bar.. I felt better overnight...but not something I would take on a regular basis. I read it's good for brushing your teeth. Makes them very white. Will have to try and see if it works. |

I had used it Yerba Prima liquid Bentonite a few times as part of an intestinal cleanse, but always with psyllium to make sure it was moving well through my intestinal tract. I would never take it for long, extended periods of time, though. That was before I discovered the blood type/genotype diet, so now I don't feel a need to do those kind of cleanses.
We also used some topically from time to time for external detoxification purposes, such as large, swollen bug bites or heal spurs; anytime you want to draw toxins from the skin. |

I've used it to whiten my teeth. For the first few weeks the whitening effect was fantastic, then I started to notice it was staining my teeth grey - my teeth were absorbing color from the charcoal As soon as I stopped using it my teeth let go of the grey color, so that was good... |

Glad your teeth aren't grey anymore...but I think baking soda might have gotten rid of the grey...and maybe brushing teeth with coconut oil. That's what I use....coconut oil, baking soda and a little sea salt...My teeth aren't really white...but they're old teeth...and keep getting stained beige from drinking green tea. |

I've got to try this! Is there any chance, though, that it will abrade the enamel? I already have porous, sensitive teeth (whitening products and procedures contraindicated). Would love a good alternative. |
