In #17. IMMUNE SUPPORT PROTOCOLS  the last suggestion is :

"NON-SECRETORS
Codonopsis (Codonopsis lanceolata): 400 mg, 1 capsule, twice daily "

Can anyone tell me about this chinese herb and who sells it. (not one of DR D's products)

I don't think it's the same as   radex codonopsis & codonopsis pilosula that I keep finding when I search.

The most commonly used variety is Codonopsis Pilosula (dangshen), which is used as a milder alternative to ginseng with similar benefits.  I went to several sites, which said that Pilosula is commonly used in Chinese Medicine and the related Lanceolata is preferred by the Koreans.  I don't know why Dr. D chose one variety over the other.

You can do a search with something like Dang shen benefits and you should come up with a lot of information on the functions of the root.

Thank you Victoria.   Have you used any of the  Codonopsis?

It would be nice to know why Dr D chose this specific variety. It must be available somewhere.

I think i saw recipes for Korean food that use it.   Smart people.

Yes I take Codonopsis - the Chinese variety (dang shen).  I have been using Chinese tonic herbs for 20 years or so.  At first I bought the herbs in bulk and made my own brewed tonics.  It's easier now to just purchase prepared formulas from companies that I trust - my 'go to' company is Dragonherbs because their quality is very high.  Their website has a wealth of information on the individual herbs, as well as the formulas that contain specific ones.  I use a few formulas at a time, switching around as I have different needs. Their master herbalists are very helpful by phone. Check out their online catalog of information at dragonherbs.com.
