I tested heterozygous for MTHFR. What does this mean? My doctor wasn't too helpful. Does this mean I make little glutathione? (Sure is great news after hearing I'm a non-secretor as well. ) |

This means you have a single copy of a gene for an enzyme that effects glutathione metabolism. This means the activity of this key enzyme in is at 55% to 70% of people with a normal MTHFR enzyme.
There are over 50 variant of the gene depending which abnormality you have will influence the effect.
You probably want to supplement with Methyl B12.
You should try to eat a diet with foods rich in folic acid.
Your ability detoxify is weak so try to avoid toxins in the diet as well as exposure to environmental toxins.
If getting SWAMI from practitioner, be sure to advice them of this condition so they can make appropriate adjustments to the diet recommendations.

Exactly. My DO ordered B12 injections for me to take. I asked him about methylfolate. He said: "No, it's too soon." Whatever that means... |

I think it might mean that there is a specific order in which you incorporate what you are doing as you are setting off a series of biochemical reactions. Ask questions! |
