for mucus release once a day in the morning before breakfast 600 mg's als when you got a cought during 4-6 days; to maintain clear lung and sinusfunctions only 250mg's every morning - to prevent r.failure justamente before getting a check with radioactive stuffs- 8-1200mg's depends of the phenotype of the client....ccan be even more or less; in case of paracetamol overdoses is I think the same....with much higher amounts- I don't remember if it's given even as an iv here but here I'ven't any experiences ...and be assured I'm happy about this- coz I don't treat in clinical amounts I never detected any toxic reaction in any client equal of what bloodtype he/she was...never...and I'm working in orthomolecular amounts.... |

Incidentally I checked this morning the max. NAC quantity in the recommended doses of Deflect O and Redoxa which I take regularly. If I took 2 caps of Deflect x 3 daily and 1 cap of Redoxa x 3 daily, the NAC quantity would amount to 600 milligrams daily. Actually I take x 2 daily of each, so I consume 400 milligrams daily, not all at once, but during around 12 hours. |

Holy hysteria, bat peeps! I don't know what to think now after reading the link in the original post. I know Mercola is not very well thought of in these here parts, so I have to consider the source, BUT that is troubling, if true. I have LBBB (left bundle branch block), an electrical conduction problem in my heart. All is well for now, but I GOTS ta keep all the unaffected electrical pathways in my heart functioning on all cylinders, so to speak. I can't let my heart be or even erroneously THINK it is oxygen-deprived or whatEV. I gotta keep it hap, hap, HAPPY! I take NAC whenever I am exposed to dangerous fumes (such as when a tanker truck exploded near my house some years back--that is when it was first recommended to me to take it, by someone on this very forum, wonderful as you all are ), cigarette smoke (that was redundant with "dangerous fumes", but anyway), etc. This is a tad concerning. Like I said, I don't know what to think. So, what I'll do is to trust Dr. D, and since he makes Redoxa, imho, it's good stuff that isn't going to kill me on the spot or even a while after I move off the spot, so it's all good. A tad concerning, but unless and until Dr. D gets concerned about it, I'm not overly concerned about it. |

Holy hysteria, bat peeps! I don't know what to think now after reading the link in the original post.
Since I don’t frequently use supplements, I consulted one of my friends, Dr. William LaValley from Austin, Texas, who is an expert in this area and has reviewed the literature thoroughly. He successfully uses supplements as a therapeutic tool in many chronic conditions including cancer.
He felt that PAH may be species specific and possibly won’t happen in humans, and more importantly, the study used much higher doses than are generally used in humans. As mentioned, there are many studies supporting the anti-oxidant benefit of NAC for pulmonary function in cystic fibrosis, post-radiation, and other high oxidant conditions. His conclusion, and I agree, is that a little is probably ok - even good for you. He has used NAC liberally in his therapeutic protocols for nearly 20 years and has not observed any problems with it. However using large quantities is probably not good for you. Long-term high doses are probably not so good for several reasons - including the possibility of PAH.
The study says that the doses are higher than usual in humans - but we know that the supplement manufacturers have been making 500mg NAC caps and selling them by the truckload for years. My biggest concern is the use of NAC by cancer patients who think it is helping - when in fact it may be harmful to them by protecting cancer cells and counteracting what potential benefit they may get from some conventional treatments. It's a thorny issue.
So, if used therapeutically, it should be used in low doses for 'prevention.' High doses should be restricted to disease/stress states that have high likelihood of high reactive oxygen species generation (such as trauma, certain types of infection, malnutrition, and certain types of toxicity).
Dr. LaValley feels that 200-500mg once a day is probably ok in most non-cancer cases. NAC is an important consideration for inclusion, at some reasonable dose, in anti-aging formulas.
This doesn't sound very alarming to me... |

Hard to find capsules lower than 600 mg, though. |
