I'd love to keep my gallbladder, this was my first issue. any thoughts?

I don't know how red beets rate for you Amy, but whenever my gall bladder is mad, I feed it red beets and it gets happy again. There is a Standard Process remedy (A-F Betafood) specifically for this, but I find red beets work well. You might need a 15oz. can or equivalent (or 2) per day for a week or so to make it happy...
I get 6 cups per day of Live Foods, so I don't ever short my beet supply... |

Hi Amy - I had a bit of experience with this, more with explorers more though. initial thoughts would be to cleanse the liver and gallbladder long term, but initially to give your self some room for maneuver.
do the explorer cleanse with apple juice and caster oil pack. if you are okay with apple juice - if not you could try malic acid and water to replace the apple juice.
to detox and give you liver a break you could have epsom salts baths, epsom salts food soaks, sweating is good so perhaps a sauna, a hot water ottle at night helps anyway. reduce all other toxins so no sugar, aspartame cosmetics enviromenstal perfumes etc.
also go to bed early and get your body cycles back on track try to be in bed by 10 pm and try and being lying down between 11pm and 2 am.
drinking water first thing in the morning and also last thing at night seems to help, as does drinking water all day. this will give you a breather if you have gallstones. if you do then you can decide to have surgery or do a gallbladder and liver cleanse as per many protocols on the internet. hulda clark and the like. I have done them and they worked for me and my partner very well. we also used dr d's sups and protocols too
as for diet. generally as you have stated if you feel comfortable with rice, then soaked and sprouted white rice worked for us , in soups etc, we also had a lot of broths though. do some research and feel free to ask specific questions either here or in a PM. happy to help. you should of course ensure anyone that is advising you knows of any ongoing health issues and you should check that it is not something else of course. good luck. |

ABJOe, thanks for the advice, but just thinking about eating beets makes me want to gag! i really hate them. i tried them roasted once and they were tolerable but i could only eat a few before the aftertaste got to me.
policychecker, i've been wanting to try a cleanse, but how long after an attack should i wait before doing it? i'm afraid to have another attack so soon because they will take out my gallbladder
Amazone I, i'm altogether not that angry of a person, most people would say i was very happy...but i'll try to be a littel more happy. anything to avoid another attack, that sucked!
Policy checker, will do. i do have a stressfull life and deep breaths would be helpfull! |

Amy - When my partner had a serious attack and then was jaundiced. we changed the diet immediately, did the detoxes after about a week. I read several books on cleanses and we then did the first cleanse together about 4 weeks after. Now i would do it sooner, but I'm not a doctor - I have read however that if you you follow the protocol there is no ill effect) make sure you let others know that "apparently" apple juice is not advised if people have cancer) although if it's on your swami I would use it anyway.
I've sent you a link which will save you having to buy some books. PM'd

I see that you live in New Jersey, which isn't all that far from NY or CT. Any chance you could come see Dr D or one of his colleagues? I generally distrust nutritional advice from conventional medical doctors, but I don't know enough about gallbladder health to know if this advice truly is a good idea for the short-term. Ideal would be to meet with a naturopath who can examine you and give you targeted nutritional advice for your specific medical situation. |

policychecker- thanks for the link. appreciate it
ruthiegirl- yes, i'm not too far away from the centers to make a visit. I'd like to hear what the conventional doc says first. but i would also like a naturopath opinion as well. i am a natural skeptic with all medicine, conventional or natural! |

amy it wasn't meant to offend at all... be asured of that ... I only observed that especially you, the O's suffer from instant *bodystress* all is going directly onto your bodies...I'ven't seen one O who didn't reacted likewise...when A's merely try to comer along mentally... B's just seem to be able to deal with stress best in case of not taking things too serious, AB's are between A's and B's...it depends.... ..... |
