YES Magnesium might be the reason we are:
belly fat..
suffer sleeplessness,
leg pain.
high pulse near 90+
sleep issues,
extra weight,
moodiness responses,
depression, irritability, shortness,
and I think the first sign is constipation or dry, pebbled, stools.

and so much more..

I am reading ever more about how difficult it is to absorb.. There seem to be several types including liquids that may be much better absorbed.

It may be that calcium negates or prevents Magnesium absorption if taken together.

The Magazine called FIRST of July 9th 2012 at $2.49 ...had a great featured explanation of the differences, including details on green juices so much needed for fibro..

I would keep my eyes open for loads more info in future editions.. .. and even have you try to get a copy of that article.. it was on pages 32-37... spend the money to get it faxed to you .. if you pm me with your fax number.. I will fax it to you ..

There seem to be books also.. worth reading..

I still get my headaches  daily... but I can get rid of it with the Mag- gel in about on hour.. and since today I add Manganese in Ligaplexll from Standard Process at chiro.. I happen to like those and they seem to go hand in hand with Magnesium..

and now I am also looking at:

IT is said that 50% people with migraine, may have H-Pilory stomach issues.. I will test and see and take the antibiotics if need be..  might be on issue.. since I have some issues on my left side and never really had a good reason for it.. there is a UREA breath test for it..  I only wonder if that test can be made to fail by eating certain things just before???

I am glad you added this thread.. the more exposure might help more who otherwise look for other solutions..

more of the one size fits all, with respect, but the rounded middle would think that the deficiency  is due to gut problems caused by not eating right for your type and outside influences like environment pollution, smoking, too much methanol, aspartame formaldehyde........

I can't tolerate magnesium oil. It triggers bad UTI's with me.. I guess it dehydrates me. Or, it makes me too alkaline and bad bacteria friendly ?  I take it orally every night after dinner.

food is lacking in many nutrients, even those eating lots of green veg can be low. excercise and stress deplete.

not sure how "one size fits all" applies as a negative here. humans do share some things in common. krebs cycle.

yes, we are all individuals.

Dr. Dean did say that the oil could get levels up near the same as clinical intervention.

There is also different absorbancy with different oral types.

Some with bowel disorders cannot tolerate oral, so she suggested oil on tummy.

many meds deplete magnesium. she laid out biochemically a chain of med prescription from high blood pressure to diabetes and how each step led to the next. wish i would have recorded it.

I don't think I am affected by magnesium deficiency, except when the candida yeast overgrowth in my system gets out of control, when I have the impression (from the myriad of symptoms) I become deficient in many vitamins and minerals, as I am no longer effectively absorbing anything I consume. A few weeks ago, before I did a candida detox, I was getting aching muscles and restless legs at night, so I think I had magnesium deficiency at that point. Otherwise I take phyotocal and eat daily or almost daily a fair few foods high in magnesium like almonds, various of the dried herbs like basil and corriander, flax and sesame seeds, leafy greens, dark chocolate-mostly all organic.

I don't think you can seperate magnesium out particularly from all other essential nutrients since the SAD diet is also highly deficient in omega 3s, vit C, vit D etc etc.

Getting to this point indicates more deficiency than just what you are eating around that time. Most of us experience a gradual depletion in something over long term, but surgery or medication can bring on expedited depletion. Any coinkiedink that most fibro sufferers go down that road at some point after having a surgery?

I was/am severely deficient in a lot as I was not absorbing many nutrients for a long while.

Peeps, I put this up mainly for people to check on themselves- not really to debate validity in general or personally.

If you are severely deficient in something, you can eat right all day long and may not get to the levels you need for healing if you are just struggling to keep up with the daily amount your body requires.

Craving chocolate, I've heard, is a sign of severe deficiency that isn't necessarily going to be filled just from eating chocolate.

I have Fibromyalgia and I definitely need more magnesium than "average." When I remember to use the magnesium oil all over my body, at least 5 times a week, I can be nearly pain-free. When I slack off, I hurt more and I'm more tired and brain-fogged.

Magnesium is distributed in the body in the following manner: 21
•bone: over 60%
•intracellular:
•muscle: about 27%
•other cells: 6-7%
•extracellular (blood serum): less than 1%

I find this very odd. It is almost like there is some kind of conspiracy to obscure our knowledge of Mg levels in the body. Tinkering with 1% of total body content is pure speculation.

That said I just did a search around on Mg sources and find that my SWAMI provides a lot of good choices. Hard water of supplements would enhance intake even more. The symptoms of deficiency that are usually listed are rather wide ranging and could be the consequence of a lot of other factors.

Good Posts.  I've definitely learned over the years I needed more magnesium.  Found they definitely helped with hormonal migraines that I used to get before I went gluten/dairy free.
Have been taking magnesium tablets and now waiting for magnesium oil that I ordered.

Body will pull into blood. True tests involve challenges and are costly. If it's low in blood, you have a HUGE problem- from the show I mentioned above.

She talked about how it would be robbed from tissues and then the tissues start having issues.

Oil -- my bottle says wash off after 20 minutes and moisturize. (Haven't yet used moisturizer because I don't own any, but may go for olive oil soon as weather is dryer).

I ordered today some magnesium oil and epsom bath salts. I am getting really achy after workouts and have 'lactic acidy' feeling in my legs the past few times. Will be interesting to see if the mag oil has any effect.

I am seeing it as a rubber band lubricant that is vital for stretching and contracting and connection to the bones tissue.. sorry I never paid attention before.. because I did not know..

I think looking at all the minerals might be a good idea..

As for chocolate .. yes I might have less need for it.. yet I would never deprive anyone of good cocoa..dark 80% or better..

I would think so as well. I think some of the 'established' nutrients are more or less ignored. How long has it been since you have heard anything about B vitamins for instance? The extent to which some of these nutrients are used to enrich cereals and grains or whatever would suggest the deficiency would be the order of the day without them and may still be even with enrichment.

I've been taking 1 200mg Magnesium Citrate by Now every evening before bed as it makes me sleepy.  I definitely need to increase my dose!  At least to 400mg?

I hope I'm absorbing this.  Would the relaxing effect be an indication of that?

I don't take calcium supp's as it makes my joints ache more.  So any calcium I will be getting from supp's.  I need to order some phytocal.

I just did my first spray of mag oil, it really stings-especially on the rash in between my fingers! I have been having bad insomnia lately, plus I got really achy calves today, 2 days after exercising. I will be interested to see if it helps either of these things. I feel a bit zinged awake now-not really the effect I was hoping for lol. Also I have insane chocolate craving, which I'm ignoring, coz I have to avoid all caffine when Im in an insomniac phase. (Think it's for the sugar rather than more mag)because I have been getting 5/6 hours sleep a night for a little while now and I get carb and sugar cravings when I'm sleep deprived. I also don't feel like eating things like leafy greens coz it's feels like hard work to prepare and digest, but I am making myself.

Tessie.. make greens into juice.. eat fruit whole..

think of Mag as avoidance of future issues, tears and the like when exercising.. use it before exercise.. even use it on joints that only give you a twinge here and there..

Researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine recently discovered the mechanism by which magnesium reduces the production of cytokines. Cytokines are molecules responsible for regulating inflammation; they play a key role conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, asthma, and alcoholic liver disease and cirrhosis.

Great link.. AKArtlover.. worth the read.. ! Thanks..
