Aside from the "white potato problem" that had cropped up over the past few days (on another thread, to be answered there), I noticed as I followed my SWAMI more closely and took beneficial brain supplements, on occasion I will be breaking out into a light to moderate sweat after a meal that is not even heated up (room temperature.) The sweating may last for about 20 minutes or so. Any idea what is going on, here? |

food sensitivities can cause a noticeable increase in pulse rate. i guess that could possibly result in light sweating. just a thought though |

Is this a meal containing diamond foods, neutrals, or some avoids? I'm wondering if it could be some kind of a healing reaction (speeding up metabolism) or if it's a sign of not tolerating harmful foods. |

I quite often have "heating" following a totally beneficial meal. I have reasoned that it is aiding the metabolism of previously stored junk, quite a lot of which changes the metabolic profile. |

Some of my beneficial foods do this to me....pineapple, soy, ginger, cinnamon.. In Chinese medicine, there are "warming foods" and "cooling foods" that need to match and balance a person's constitution. Sometimes just a cup of peppermint tea which is cooling balances out the warming (actually heating) properties of ginger for me. The yin/yang imbalance was especially noticeable when I was going through menopause...(many moons ago) But still pay attention to which foods might balance me when I feel overly warm or overly cool. Seraffa, you might find this interesting. http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/heaty.htmlhttp://www.myhealthybalance.com/2010/03/cooling-foods-vs-warming-foods/ |

I was wondering about peri-menopause as well. Chloe's idea about heat and cool-promoting foods is a good one. In fact spicy sezchuan food helped me to go into labor many moons ago when I was feeling more than ready to deliver my second child. |

Years ago, one evening I went out to eat with my husband and ate a meal with a good-sized serving of steak and a baked potato. Then I went to sing with the choir at a Christmas church musical performance, at the top tier of a singing Christmas tree. In a little while I got so incredibly overheated that I thought I was going to faint, and had to sit down (very carefully). That had never happened to me before so I did some research, and read where meat can raise the body temperature considerably. But on the other hand, recently I got way too hot during an on-stage performance and nearly fainted because I went all day without eating and my blood sugar fell too low. Thank goodness I was able to leave during an intermission. A glass of orange juice rescued me. But I was wondering the other day why I get so very very hot sometimes when my husband isn't. I've been in post menopause for years, so I don't think it is hot flashes. My pulse does go way up when I eat something I'm allergic to, so maybe that is the connection. |

No where in my message did I say I was eating avoids in these particular meals everyone (please take note.) it happened way before the white potato took me hostage this week. Okay. Metabolism speeding up on its own.....hmmmm |

There are a lot of good clues here. Can you rule any out? Maybe what's left standing could be tested somehow. I overheated following dinner for the 12 or so years before BTD/GT. It stopped happening, I believe, once I'd detoxed. It pops up a little with spicy foods, hot foods, or a little too much wine, but it's nothing like it used to be. Maybe you should do the liver cleansing. Milk thistle seems to work for me, also. |

Sounds like the potato fought back after dying and tried to bake YOU. come to think of it, I do see a correlation. I recently stopped microwaving my sweet potatoes, which are a diamond for me on my SWMI. Half of my "sweaty" meals didn't even include a sweet potato ( although they're supposed to fix my metabolism) so I'm going to go with the "detox from something and the speeding up of the metabolism" guess. |

Sometimes I sweat after drinking green tea. I never drink it steaming hot; I always either let it cool down or add cool water to it. Lately at work I’ve found myself asking co-workers if it was hot in the office or just me. I’m long past menopause, but these recent food flashes remind me of hot flashes. Now I’m curious, I’ll have to take note of what I might have consumed right before it happened and a couple of days before. |

Menopause. My wife's flashing sometimes occurs during or immediately after dinner. Almost always at night, in any case. Her's is not specifically food related, though, eating just seems to be one of the triggers. She argues that the flashing is random, but I would think that hormone events would be "triggered". Don't know, except that black cohosh root extract really works for her. |

We don't have to hasten you toward peri-menopause. It is the period of around 10 years leading up to the cessation of menses. You are in it, dear. |

Despite our best efforts to stay young, we women do experience peri-menopause and menopause. I have had friends who started really early. I seem to be more on the average to later side. My last period was in December, so I am still considered peri-menopausal until I go for a year without a period - three months to go! It's weird though, my hormones seem to have reset and I feel like I might have a period coming on!!! Gosh - I sure hope not! Seraffa, I would have to agree with Victoria on this. It would be highly unusual for you to still be having a period in 10 years given the fact that you are 47 according to your info. I'm 54 and I have been experiencing intense symptoms on and off for at least two and a half years now. |
