You should buy a blood pressure monitor if you need to check his blood pressure. I have a ReliOn from Walmart made by OMRON that is the best one I've had. It will check the heart rate too! Not expensive either, and this is all you will need! Model number is: HEM-741CRELN2(HEM8705-WM) http://www.walmart.com/ip/ReliOn-reg-Auto-Inflate-Digital-Blood-Pressure-Monitor/5161742This is the new number for the same unit. It was recommended to me by the pharmacy, and is very reliable. All the bells and whistles that I need! Keeps a record of your numbers for at least a month. Arrhythmia, BP and heart rate. And inexpensive! Have had it for a few years now. |

Walgreen's (a drug store chain in the US) has inexpensive monitors that check both, too. Blood Pressure and Heart Rate are two different phenomena. |

It is very easy to check blood pressure with an inexpensive cuff, they all come with directions. Take whatever cuff you buy with you to the doctor's office and ask them to calibrate it. Blood pressure measures the pressure of blood in the arteries as the heart is pumping, and as it is relaxed. Heart rate is the times per minute that the heart beats. Two very different things. |
