Hi - I am a O Negative and I have been roughly following the Blood type Diet for many years.  I have a problem with irritable bladder at times - I also have to get up every 2 hours throughout the night to urinate.  Sometimes I sleep for one hour then have to get up and it is as if I had slept for a long  time with the amount that I urinate, from then it is every 2 hours -  I do not drink much if anything after supper.  I drink 6-8 glasses of water min a day. No alcohol. 2 cups of 1/2 decaf caffee in morning.  Herbal teas and water are primarly what I drink.  I am finding that the lack of sleep is leavign me very fatigued .  Any recommendations?

BHP assuming you are a He how old are you,

Genoma EQ works very well until you fix the problem

good that you don't drink after 8.30 pm, reduce acid drinks. change to sea salt, use chlorine free water, reduce you love life a bit, change to organic where possible.

possible reduce amount of protein and eat your main meal at lunch, light meals at night time no later than 6 pm.

it is also important to regularise your no 2's to ease the situation. the quickest way to do that if there is a problem is intrinsa.

when drinking water drink 30 mins before a meal and only 2 hours after.

go to bed before 10 pm and get up at 6 pm or before.

Frequent urination can be a sign of many medical conditions. It could be something "not quite right" with your urinary system (bladder infections, prostate issues if you're male, kidney problems, etc) or it could be a sign of diabetes.

You might want to get a medical checkup to see what's going on with you. Then you can research natural ways to treat whatever it is.

Whatever the cause, being more compliant can only help. Cut out any "avoids" still in your diet and watch those portion sizes.

From the initial post, the only comments I have are to cut out the remaining coffee, either become very compliant to BTD or better - get SWAMI and follow it.

Thanks for your input - I am female - 56
I tried going off Coffee totally last year for 3 weeks and made absolutely no difference - I have had full check up every year though just waiting for results from most recent - Dr. is very thorough. non/ very minimal acidic fruits etc., I have been on 3-4 different prescriptions with no results.  Prefer to try natural - I will try to eliminate coffee (does that include decaf?)   This problem has been going on for 7-8 years....About twice a year I only have to get up once!

might be a menopausal thing might be also a stress-response... I know this as well and
my experience is... go into meditation this helps enormously....relax....relax...relax...the most you're able to.... and for better sleep I do use sometimes passion flower and on top of the bladder area boswellia serrata gel (incl. minth oil)...this gives you a feeling of refreshings but calms down hyperactive bladder and is at the same time a sort of anti-inflamatory help ....you might want also giving a try to tens-technics

wish you all the best and I feel with you ....

Daggone,

A couple of things come to mind.

When I was studying nutrition - before I found BTD where the work has already been done and is still ongoing - I was told that frequent urination esp at night could be due to lack of potassium in the diet.

The second is that I found using progesterone cream very soothing to my slightly irritated bladder round the time of menopause.

aha, female, not BHP then lol....

cut all coffee then. do more exercise including that pelvic one.

warm water in the morning and check out liver and kidney cleanse of some sort.

Dr D's protocols a good place to start.

short term solution is for some reason to drink less water, but long term that may not be so smart so perhaps a combination.

Considering you are Type O negative... Liver and kidney interaction are entwined is the preface I will start with. Get off the coffee, and start exercising so you sweat. Hormone balance is key in this too (liver, again).

How is your digestions? The amount of influence on the bladder etc is immensely extensive from poor bacterial balance in the colon. This imbalance can be caused as much by bad gut flora as it can be by impaired stomach acid, bile, etc. All very much tied to liver.

I would suggest using lots (lots) of turmeric, and consuming lots of ginger (as tea and in food). Also cranberry juice will help your bladder sustain on its own, instead of creating a bacteria issue running back and forth between colon and bladder/urinary track.

Genoma EQ will help but it doesn't fix anything if the problem is persisting from other issues.

Supplement wise, B12 may be smart, as well as P5P. The heart having a difficult time at all seems to cause frequent urination at night as you come to rest. Sleeping is difficult with any mild anemia too. Do you ever notice arrhythmia in your pulse?

Diabetes might be a possibility, but unlikely if you are already following the diet. When it happens though it is usually a bit more serious. If your body couldn't half way regulate blood sugar you wouldn't know up from down when your body wasn't flushing it out. If your body is flushing it out you'd have lots of very fowl, sweet, super concentrated urine. My guess is you experience a lot of clear urine. It might be trying to concentrate but not working. If you were diabetic though it would probably equal coma or something.

Hormonal imbalances can cause all kinds of problems, but don't start taking any kind of supplement or using any cream until you know what your personal issues are. If you're low on estrogen and have too much progesterone to balance out your estrogen, then using progesterone cream will only make things worse.

Have you totally ruled out a blood sugar disorder?  Cheap to buy a blood sugar monitor...Excessive urination can be a sign of diabetes. But also know that some lectins can mimic insulin. Do you eat wheat?  Stay away from
your toxins and focus only on beneficials.  See if that makes a difference.

Did your doctor check your pituitary gland? It secretes a hormone called ADH or AntiDiuretic Hormone which helps regulate water balance.  Having a lot of water volume with each trip to the bathroom can be a sign the pituitary isn't producing enough ADH.

How? What else does that show up as?????

Doctors have little or no clue.. its our age.. and if ever you had surgery where they put a tube up the urinary canal it is a issue also..

Sleeping is a thing of the long gone past.. 2 hours is good! I do 90 minutes for many years.. sorry I also tried many things and think that nothing works.. (for me).

If it starts to get to you... might you read the Trehalose Complex thread.. it helps with the blues,, makes life worth while.. at least that..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

There is a Chinese Medicine herbal formula called "Fu Gui Ba Wei Wan" that is especially for the problem of night time peeing. It has another name "Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan". http://www.bestchinesemedicines.com/jin-gui-shen-qi-wan.htm

It's a fairly safe formula to take as long as you're not on anything like warfarin, it would be a month or two before you would notice improvement. A local practitioner could confirm for you if this is a good match for you, or you could chance it and just order some online.

Look up things that can strengthen your "Kidney Yin" and "Kidney Yang" - the Chinese have a lot of good things to say about this.

You might also try 7-Keto DHEA although it's better to get a blood test for your DHEA levels first to see if your levels are actually low, before supplementing.

I might try for a short while, Milk of magnesia.. It might help with muscle control.. I also bought Magnesium sups from NAP.. am taking them right now.. w'll see..

then again the BEST I ever did was with Peppermint tea for 6 weeks solid.  I might suggest that to be the best .. it helped me to go from 45 min for years to 90 min and maybe even longer here and there..

Do you by chance have any anxiety disorders?  I have anxiety and it causes me to urinate frequently. This can happen while I am awake or every two hours or less while sleeping. It's very disrupting. I would recommend testing for diabetes and making sure you don't have a uti. If those are all negative you may want to read, "A Headache in the Pelvis" by David Wise and Rodney Anderson. This has helped me a lot. My pelvic muscles become tense and I can massage and apply heat to them to calm them down. If you do have a chronic pelvic pain issue like this it could be caused by anxiety and will take on it's own life even if the emotional problem that caused it has disappeared. Good luck to you!
