A while back, I had cut out nightshades completely.   Because one particular time I was moving some furniture, far heavier than I should have been doing at the time, and I paid dearly for it.  I was messed up for 3 days.  Like bad messed up.  Inflammed real bad, and my heart rate was off the charts, and I needed medicine to slow it down.  Etc etc.  Well, my Doctor suggested cutting out nightshades.  But this was before I knew I had lymes disease.  

So, about a year ago, I started eating potatoes.  And in November I starting eating them quite a bit.  And it helped me gain weight, which was sorely sorely needed.  I weighed 114 pounds at the time and I'm 5'8".  And I have less joint pain than I did last year, before I started eating potatoes again.  In fact, I rarely get pain in the knees anymore.  Last year I was getting it bad at times, and I think it was the lymes.  

So anyways, BTD and my swami say tomatoes are fine.  I'm kind of craving them and wanting to add them.  And even bell peppers are superfoods, for me, but I've avoided them too.  I did have one time a long time ago where I ate some green pepper raw, and it kind of upset my stomach.  But that might have been one incident.  

I'm not really asking permission and I know what I should do.  However, I wanted to get a feel for how many AB's or Nomads avoid nightshades or not.  Just to get a feel.  Because if I'm eating a bunch of nightshades, and I'm feeling strange, it might help to know if I'm not alone.  However, if potatoes are any indication of how I'll do, I think I'll be fine with them.  But I would imagine it will just depend on the one.  And I also know each one has different qualities cooked or not cooked.  Like I've heard cooked tomatoes are more acidic and it might be better to eat raw.  But then for me, with bell peppers, I feel like it might almost be the opposite.  Stir fried peppers might be better on the stomach than raw.  

So, if you have a mind to and the patience and time to, I'm open to hearing how you Nomad's/AB's do on these nightshades.  Which of course I'm including B's.  And really anyone else for that matter.

Bell peppers are a superfood for me, but I have not purchased any recently...

Potatoes, White with skin are neutral and I do OK with them.  I don't eat them often, but I know I can without incident...  They are avoid for the rest of the housemates, so unless I add them to my food, they are ignored...

Tomatoes are black dot, and since DD is so reactive to even the smell of them, they are not welcome in our house.

can't have any kind of potatoe...but tomatoes are ok.....and I only eat according to lr4yt only red and yellow bell peppers... the green-ones give me troubles.... ......

Potatoes have always been an avoid/toxin for me and I have not eaten them in 15 years.  A daily sweet potato, however, is a very good food for me.

Tomatoes were ok on my blood type diet, but on my SWAMI, they are a toxin.  My body has always known that, because I never felt right when I ate them. So I haven't eaten them in 10 years.

Raw bell peppers of any color are almost impossible for me to digest.  Cooked red ones digest well but even though bell peppers are a superfood, I stopped eating them nearly a year ago and all my body pain decreased tremendously.  

So I just don't eat any nightshades.  My body is happier without any of them.

Wow, a mixed bag for sure.  It would be interesting to know how you do on tomatoes Joe.  But I understand why you wouldn't eat them with others not doing well on them in the house.  If I avoided the foods my son was allergic to, I'd starve.  He's highly allergic to nuts and fish.  My favorites.  It makes life interesting.  I have to be careful about my hands, when they touch what.  Since I'm the cook.  

And amazone, no potatoes but tomatoes are ok.  Wow.  And Victoria, well, sweet potatoes are soooooo gooooood.   So you're not missing much.  I think if I try bell peppers, I'll try the red or yellow.

I just remembered that I had tomato recently in a salad when eating out and I was fine with it.  Obviously, with it as a black dot, I won't indulge often.

I can't cook with them anytime DD will be in the house within 3 or 4 hours of having any juice, steam, etc... in the air or she will have severe muscle spasms in her neck...  Just not worth the risk.

Wow, that is drastic.  What blood type is she?  Ribbit is way sensitive to nightshades also.

Joe's daughter is an A.  

Rob (B Nomad) does fine with potatoes but doesn't eat bell peppers because they make him burp.  He does, however, love Tobasco and he eats a lot of it when he goes on trips.  Out of respect for my reactions to peppers, he keeps it out of the house.  Someone gave us some jalopeno honey and he eats that every so often and I steer WAY clear of the jar in the fridge and steer clear of him for a day or two after he eats it.

I know that they don't do you well, and I know that you must realize others can get away with it, but that second link acts like they are the devil and should not be touched.  I'm not sure I go along with that.  I don't think God would've put them here if they didn't play some part in the food chain.  That's just how I see it.  Now, I fully admit I don't know exactly what they are doing to me.  But like I said, I'm eating more potatoes now and I have less pain than I did last year.  And I don't really get that joint pain at all any longer.  A few times this year I remember it, but not like last year.  And last year I wasn't eating potatoes all that often.  So.......

Well, I suppose it's possible that I would feel just even MORE better this year if I cut out potatoes.  But I'm not sure I'm willing to do that yet.  It just seems that I've been feeling so much better putting on weight, and I'm pretty sure they help me do that.  And again, my swami says for me they are OK.  So....  I know I know, sometimes there are things on swami that might not work for you.  Either way I'm aware of what they could possibly do, if I continue to add more of them.
