I don't get here much, cause parenting kinda has become a full time endeavor outside of work. My 5 year old son is an INTENSE person, needing a very high level of attention from his mom and myself.
So, the reason I'm here is to get recommendations for supplements and herbs that might help a 5 year old Blood Type O boy calm down a bit. He gets explosively violent at times, almost a prime example of how Dr. D'Adamo describes the 'basic O' on http://www.dadamo.com/bloodtype_O.htm
We recognized early on that he is a very kinetic child, and he does get lots of physical activity both at school and at home. He's adopted ice hockey as his official sport, with a minor in soccer, gymnastics and baseball.
He tentatively types as an Explorer Genotype, and we are making some modifications in his diet based on that. We still have to get him in for some blood testing (Rh and Secretor), but the only other choice is Gatherer, and it is HIGHLY unlikely that he is a Gatherer Genotype (based on his personality and body type)
Unfortunately, he's also 'out there' in the real world and eats lunch and snacks at school (no homemade food allowed). We've been able to keep cow dairy mostly out of his life (yogurt has been a staple), as well as oranges and a few other avoids, but can't micromanage his school meals. We choose not to restrict him when it comes to parties and treat foods, so he does get occasional treats of ice cream, cake, white breads, etc. He doesn't like chocolate cake!
He's craved oranges, tangerines and cucumbers. Ironically, we strictly restricted them. Giving in rarely. Now, it turns out that Explorers are OK with the occasional tangerine, orange, cucumber and yogurt.
So I know I could do the research and find these herbs/supplements myself (I used to have them memorized), but I figured I use this as an excuse to get myself up here on the board again and elicit the help of all the current experts, old friends and new friends.
