I use a number of adaptogens and like the book "Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina and Stress Relief". I have an extensive medicinal herb garden and make lots of herbal medicines.
Eleuthero won't grow here in SE Ohio, but I grow schisandra and tulsi (holy basil) and have just started rhodiola. One herb that grows well for me which I found out about in the above-mentioned book is Rhaponticum, or Maral Root, which is primarily grown in Siberia, Korea, Mongolia and parts of China. It is listed as "adaptogen, antioxidant, antitumor, heart tonic, hepatoprotective, immune stimulant, and nervine". I have harvested my first 3 year old roots and tinctured them (the plant has been known to live in excess of 100 years, amazing for an herbaceous perennial).

Has anyone come across a reference in Dr. D's work about this herb and which blood types/genotypes can use it? I have fallen in love with it (I have about 30 of the plants in my garden) and am hoping it is a good one for me. Not only is it attractive, but it is easy to grow and likes my terrain.
