It was devastating to see it. Did I ate something wrong? Did I miss any rule about BTD? Is it just a coincidence about melatonin and melon because there might be another thing that caused it? I have eaten melon for 2 days in each evening meal dessert. I think its the cause. Also I have taken melatonin for those days to which I think made it really bad. I did`nt know about melon was a laxative fruit that can cause it. And melatonin can interact with blood clothing |

By melon, do you mean watermelon? If so, it may just be the watermelon coloring your stool. Stools are not ordinarily red, even if it is blood, unless the problem is in the colon. Blood from farther up is usually brownish. |

Blood on the stool that is bright is usually caused by a fissure/crack that bleeds because the stool is big/hard. That happens to me at times. Red foods like beets can make stools red also. |

Occasionally, I'll have bright red blood - sometimes quite a lot - in my stool for a few days. I know that it's caused by a hemorrhoid or something close because, as mentioned, blood in the stool from farther up isn't bright like that. You can get those from anything, actually. It really started during my pregnancy, and, while not very common anymore, I don't worry about it, even if it happens for more than one day. |

Marc, It is one of the ways my body uses to clean out some toxins... I noticed it when I was really sick, and it continued during the initial phases of the BTD, although, it has been a while now since I have had this occur. Keep eating beneficial foods and I think it will lessen and heal. As the entire digestive tract gets healthy again, everything works better and everything that can cause this disappears. |

If it doesn't disappear quickly, I'd have a gastroenterologist check it out. I have ulcerative colitis and the blood I see from that when I have a flare up is very red. It is scary and it's not something you should ignore. It could just be from a hemorrhoid but it could also be something much more serious and should be checked out if it continues. Jane |

Had this also.
It may look like a lot of blood but in reality it probably isn't. If you put 1 drop of blood on a piece of tissue you will see why.
Hope it stops soon.

Yeah, I wouldn't freak about it. But if it continues, you might want to get it checked out. I wouldn't cancel your appointment. But you're young and not really at the time when they suggest a colonoscopy. Unless something is really wrong. |

Oh sorry about that Possum I`ll change it. As Jane maybe your body is just detoxifying I`m a bit sick on those days. It started January 3 to 6 every night Its not a single drop. After I release my first stool my blood is pouring down by droplets. Maybe 5 droplets I count it yesterday. I was thinking about picturing it and sharing it to those who want to see it. I forgot because it was to devastating for me to see it. |

Marc, are you having any lower back pain? Have you been doing any heavy lifting, etc., that could cause this? |

That's most likely towards the end of the gi, colon, sphincter or something else completely. |

It would be good to go to a dr., but the kind of blood that is indicative of cancer is black as it is from further up(usually)& isn't fresh. You probably have an irritation of some kind. Best wishes for speedy healing which it sound like you are doing..... |

Heavy lifting can cause bleeding in some people, and is usually accompanied by a low back pain. But a good check-up is certainly in order to sort this out. By all means. |
