So, long story short, I got the blood test for secretor status, and just found out it says I am a secretor.
From what I know, the blood test that the clinic did only tests the second portion of the a and b. A nonsecretor is A+B- and a secretor is A-B+. Lewis Double Negative is A-B-, and A+B+ is not really much of a possibility. So, this means I'm definitely a secretor? A Lewis Double Negative would show up like a nonsecretor on the blood test. So yeah...
Ok, time to get used to this idea. I'm still kind of holding my breath waiting for somebody to tell me it was a mistake. The other half of me is ready to start the Hunter diet and whip up a batch of hummus, because if I'm a secretor, then I am a hunter. Which is a little funny, since the O-non diet and the Hunter diet are so similar, but hey, I'll take it. I was always a little more well suited for the O-non diet than the gatherer or explorer diets, but the hunter diet seems like a good fit. |

I have the SWAMI program and just put in my data, pulling up as a definite Hunter. They will likely send me an official SWAMI copy from the clinic as well, and that's when I'll be able to believe it fully. |

With the struggles you've had Melissa_J, I would have sworn you would type out as a nonnie. Welcome to Hunter land... Get your bow and arrow out ----> and start hunting. |

It does kind of make explorer an impossibility though... Gatherer is still possible, so I'll have to see the measurements they got on paper. Dr. D. measured my fingers himself at the 09 conference, and perhaps they got a different measurement at the clinic, so yeah, there is the possibility. All three diets are good for me (when I stick to them, which has been hard lately) so yeah, I'll just have to see. |

Me too, I'm shocked here...I asked her to repeat it 3 times over the phone. But I do like hunting. |

I didn't get a single cavity until age 30, that was the only thing that didn't fit the non-secretor profile.
I guess my other challenges are from environment, epigenetics, and poor food choices... my secretor status no longer excuses me. My whole extended family has more challenges than most, but fortunately we are pretty long-lived anyway. |

Don't feel bad remember when I came to you to recheck my measurements. I got the SWAMIXpress and typed out as a hunter and have been much happier ever since. As far as physical challenges remember somtimes your environment has play in that. I just found out I had EBV (mono) sometime in the past but never diagnosed, I carry the markers in my blood, This gives explanation for the extreme fatigue periods and highs & lows of my energy. May have to come see you for the SWAMI PRO. HAve a a good day 'hunting'. |

It is better to get past the Genotype labels to the diet and lifestyle that is best for you. Congratulations on learning more about your individuality!
