Dr. D, I am glad you wrote and posted on this subject.  I am a firm believer in balancing allopathic and naturopathic modalities in the best interest of the patient.

My own family history is a good illustration of this.  My father and all of his siblings died of heart-related issues between the ages of 43 - 63.  At the time of their deaths, none of the advanced allopathic heart disease procedures such as bypass surgery, stents or angioplasty were available.  Today my siblings and cousins are all alive because of these life-saving procedures.  Many of my older cousins have surpassed the age their parent passed by a ten years or more.

Being the youngest by quite a bit of all my siblings and cousins, I have watched this terrible disease take hold of each of them.  I am working to beat the odds of my genes through your diet and exercise plan.  Only time will tell if I am successful in this, but I feel empowered by my knowledge rather than feeling resigned to fate.

I continue to try to enlighten my siblings and cousins to expand their own knowledge of how naturopathic/holistic modalities can enhance their longevity, focusing on diet, but mostly my attempts fall on deaf ears.  I, however, plan to keep all my options open.
