I have been eating more pineapple this week and feeling ok. I am kind of bored with it though, does anyone know other beneficial fruits for o's?

also, I usually slice my pineapple but have not a clue about the carb content per slice and how much consists of a serving. Any thoughts?

Last question: do o's really need the fruit? I want to know if I am better without it or does it benefit me to have some?

oh, still the only the carbs I am eating are veggies, however, I go bonkers with them.. like veggie overload.

I still wonder if it would be wise to start counting the carbs I have a day. I can easily eat 2 medium red peppers a day and I think they are about 12 grams each. hmm... perhaps, I should settle down on the vegetable munching.

what do you think?

I eat pineapple every day and can't get enough of it  --but since it's mostly sugar, I have to limit myself to one or half a slice a day.

Besides the ones C_Sharp mentioned, you can have blueberries and cherries. I also get grapefruits, peaches, cranberries and jackfruits as superfoods/diamonds on my SWAMI, but on the TypeBase they are Neutral for O's.

Re: the red pepper thing--do you eat red bell peppers? I used to eat them every day in my salad. Love the sweetness. But when I heard how much pesticide residues are left on bell peppers I reduced my intake drastically. Might be something to consider.

Thanks, too much sugar for me. I think I should cut it in half... baby steps. My swami said plums are not good for me, but I love them.

Ok, I am on the same page with you regarding pineapple. Not into grapefruits or mangos. Blueberries my only berries, have not tried peaches in a while. What about nectarines?

Yes, I was eating them everyday, however, I am going to start watching it from now on plus, they are alot of sugar for me. Not a fan.. thanks for the insight.

Perhaps I should try again. I had some in NC and loved it but since I came to CO, I have not had any that taste great.

the sugar and carbs are not the same thing..

we need MORE then 60 carbs a day! to function healthy.. less then 60 puts us into ketosis.. not needed for health..

carbs in fruit will put you over 60 in a hurry.. a good thing as we need it for cellular fluids..

sugar spiking in some of us (diabetic onset)  is a thing to learn about.. I rather allow the fruit then grains for the same spike effect.. (I don't trust grains.. ) love fruit..  

learning about glycemic indexes is important, but caution - look at amounts - eating nuts along side reduces the glycemic effect..  

Pineapples are low even if higher then berries.. pineapple is super/diamonds for me..  


Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

"Diabetes: Beat with BTD" says “Eating plenty of fruit  favorable to Blood Type O can encourage weight loss by tempering the effects of insulin, but then limits me to 1-3 per week.   That doesn't seem like plenty. . Should it be 1-3 times a day for an O nonnie or is it really per week?

If you have SWAMI, look there for your diamond and beneficial fruits, rather than asking a generic "what fruits are good for Os." We're not all the same.

Also check out your SWAMI for suggested portions. My daughter's SWAMI suggested 3 cups of fruit per day. Mine suggests half a cup of fruit per day. We're both Os, although SWAMI labels her an Explorer and me a Gatherer. SWAMI seems to be right in its serving size recommendations- she does great with lots of fruit, but I don't.  I have to remember to shop differently when she's home than when she's not home, as she literally eats as much fruit in one day as I eat in a week.

If she cuts fruit out of her diet, she just won't feel well. She needs more carbs than I do, and the sugars from fruit just agree with her- she feels energized, unlike eating too many carbs from grains. Meanwhile, too many carbs from fruit feels like eating pure sugar in my system, with resulting blood sugar swings.

I would not worry about the carbs in veggies. Veggies are a VERY healthy way to get carbs.

I've gone weeks with no fruit at all except for some lemon juice and proberry syrup in my morning tea. And then there are times when I'll eat a lot of watermelon as a mid-afternoon snack. Lately I've been having 1/4 of a banana in a morning smoothie.
