I just started to use SWAMI and want to get best out of it, but I dont know what my Lewis and MN groups are. Should I just go to a lab and ask them to run a test?
Thanks,
Burhan |

I would start with the information you know and get started...
You can then research what is required to get the additional information.
Calling and legwork may be required to find someplace to get the testing done and learn the procedure... You may be able to have your Dr. order testing, you may be able to get a lab to do it, etc... I don't know what is required in Canada... |

Ask your doctor for Lewis phenotyping and MN phenotyping. Ususally a lab can draw the blood but often it has to be sent to a blood bank, such as one connected with a hospital, or Canada's equivalent of The American Red Cross. In the US, there are private labs that can do it as well, but of course you would have to pay for that.
It is another form of blood typing, such as ABO blood typing, so maybe your national health insurance will cover it. |

If you are confident in your secretor status, I would not worry about getting the Lewis in addition (essentially redundant info).
Labcorp will do both Lewis and MNS.
