Anyone have problems getting past the adjustment stage? I've tried 3 times and i get way too uncomfortable. I don't think it's the strains of probiotics, but more the larch and chickory. I am very sensitive to fibers. some it loves and some it hates. I do take pearl which is acidophilus and bifidiobacterium. seems to do the trick but I'm stupidly always looking for something better |

the strains in polyflora are the right ones for your physiology and gut ecosystem. the more fixing your gut needs, the more those beasties are going to fight back!! why not drop those you are taking not pertaining to your individuality and let polyflora do the work it is meant to do instead here s more reading for you http://n-equals-one.com/blogs/2010/10/11/positive-feedback/ |

Is it at all POSSIBLE that some O's systems are just not going to accept it? i really think it's the larch or chickory. Wish I could just get the probiotics themselves. There are some out there with the two beneficial but they also contain other strains of course |

the chicory could indicate a fructose problem, which is a whole other problem. |

WAY too uncomfortable meaning serious bloating and constipation. Tried it last about a year ago and did have healing to do. I have no problems with paleo O diet whatsoever. It's when I mess with too much fiber that i have problems and I've been that way ALL my life. That's what makes me think it's just me. I don't eat alot of fruit and it's usually berries or grapefruit and no noticable trouble. |

you bet, doesn't work so much. lol. My body just says " back away from the fiber". Things could be worse and things run smooth until I add fiber. Oh well. I guess my stomach is the boss of me |

Mother lots of people are the same as you they perhaps just don't know it yet.
It's all down to the bacteria in your gut or lack of them.
Too much fibre may be bad for many people.
get rid of the bad bacteria and introduce some new friendly ones using polyflora. away from meals.
I would be inclined to think it is not the polyflora that is causing your problems so much as the adjustment to finally getting it right.

I appreciate all the advise however, my system seems to be the typical hunter system. does perfectly well on protein veg and fats. I've read tons on hunters: hunter digestion doesn't tolerate foods not good for them legumes: some are beneficial, even so eat them as an occasional side dish nuts: eat in moderation, hard to digest even beneficial grains eaten too often are likely to cause problems I believe EVERYONE has foods they do not tolerate no matter how healthy their gut flora is. If I thought polyfloraO would allow me to eat all kinds of new foods that so to speak, go against the hunter grains, I'd jump on. I think for now at least, I'll just let food be my medicine as it has worked wonderfully since BT diet. I also appear to have the typical hunter sensitive gut but it is far less sensitive if I avoid the avoids. I don't think any amount of any probiotics is going to allow mw sugar and pastries and pastas and all the things I enjoyed before BT. I don't miss them much and one or two small tastes(not wheat) every two months is good enough for me. I was just wondering if anyone else couldn't tolerate polyflora O, i suppose it could be possible. Thanks for the support |

You need different pastries and sweetners. My quinoa muffins work for me, as does the yerba mate with agave sweetner. The coca/ghee/agave mixes that I have tried are just a little too rich for me. I have to work harder to get it right. For most easily available products my safe limit is 0 grams. Once I embrased this truth, loosing weight became possible. You could try taking Polyflora with Live Cell and Deflect; they work well together. It could be that the probiotic is reacting with harmful bacteria to produce a toxic effect which dislodges the bacteria. Much like the toxicity people get when they rid themselves of Candida. If that is the case Live Cell, being a prebiotic, would "sow" good bacteria to help stop the bad bacteria from coming back, and Deflect is specifically designed to stop the toxic material from re-attaching by offering easier sacrificial binding sites. The only way to know for sure is to try it. I have been taking Polyflora, Live Cell and Deflect together one per day, and my weight is going down again. Lost 70 lbs with 100 to go. My digestion is much better as is my energy. The only bad thing; I wish I had done this last year. |

I think the larch in the polyflora is upsetting your digestion because it is working .....it will kill bad viruses/bacteria ( if I understand correctly?) in water etc so proberly does the same in the gut. tThose things are fighting to live & causing upset then the polyflora strains repair etc.......just a thought as I seem to be having the same reaction. I also tried the polyflora, deflect & live cell together but stopped after a month as I had such horrid belching & reguritating! |

perhaps that is the case, however, I've been doing really well for awhile now and think I'll continue to let food be my medicine. I have never had good experiences with ANY medications (thought I may be a nonnie but I'm not) or supplements other than your standard vitamins. I really don't want to rock the boat when I don't have to. Thanks |

I would just mention that it took me a long time to get used to polyflora, but once i stuck to it it works well for me now. everything takes time. a lot of which is wasted if you give up to soon. |

Polyflora O to me is a lifesaver. As soon as I learnt that VSL#3 (which I'll never take because it's based on milk and contains lactose) contains 450 billions of friendly bacteria (8 strains) per 1 sachet, I understood that a dose of 20 capsules daily of Polyflora O (i.e., 35 billions daily of the 2 recommended strains) instead of the 6 caps daily I have been taking is more than safe. Within less than 24 hours my powers returned to me, I found myself fresh and joyful. There is not enough thankfulness in the world to send to Dr. D for creating this unique & invaluable product. |

I would imagine so, but I use it primarily for weight loss/cardiovascular issues. It is likely that Live Cell (assuming you bought the right type) is better than astralagus - my favorite all-blood type, "all purpose" herb. |

Mother, are you a small person? I have a friend who is smallframed, she is very petite and her doc told her not to take a lot of fiber becuse it will just bloat her. Even tho she has serious diverticulosis... |
