Ok, i'm in the home stretch before i go on vacation. I will be leaving in 6 weeks as of yesterday. I really want to lose some weight, though i'm not expecting miracles!. Besides eating lots of diamond foods do any gatherer's have any tips that have worked for them?.
Thanks!

Portion sizes matter too. When I first got SWAMI, I lost 10 lbs in a month.
Since then, I've slipped up with both portion sizes and frequency- eating too much food, too often, plus I slacked off on the exercise as well. I haven't lost ANY weight since that initial rapid loss, although I gained, lost, regained, and relost the same 5 lbs a few times.
In over a year on SWAMI, I've lost 10 lbs. I still have 30 to go. I really need to get back on track with eating "just enough" food and exercising regularly.

for O's its walking more that does it.. and eating enough of SUPER BENEFICIALS only.. or some benficials! 6 weeks= 20 pounds.. and no over eating during vacation... !
I am starting 'today' on the same idea.. lets support each other.. meat and beneficial veggies.. olive oils and for you maybe some nuts or better yet PUMKIN seeds.. delish..
if you can = no coffe.. I do hot cocoa pure in hot wather to take sugar cravings away.. simple and all you need..
When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfectionBeing 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships

I'm a gatherer, too. Lost 30 lbs in 4 months but I would like more, quicker. I find that the recommended portions and frequency doesn't keep me from being hungry, though. I guess I will just have to BE hungry. Bummer!

I found out the hard way, that if one doesn't follow it, one slides back. Frequency and portion and diamond and superfoods, is all part of the plan. Now exercise, is the hard one for me still but I find if I do wall pushups each time I use the bathroom, it helps me a lot. I can't walk outside yet, don't have the endurance, but I can walk around my apartment and I can march in place, during commercials, and I can do squats during food microwaving, I can also do dishes while microwaving a cup of tea or yerba mate. Try to get it in when I can. It works!

My gatherer daughter has limited her grains to quinoa.
She eats a large quantity of Superfood and Diamond vegetables.
She is careful to get enough high quality meat or fish protein.
She makes sure to exercise at least 5 days a week, switching off what she is doing.
She feels that CLA (Gatherer Synergist) has been very helpful:
"Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)reduces fat and preserves muscle tissue. According to the research project manager, an average reduction of six pounds of body fat was found in the group that took CLA, compared to a placebo group. CLA has been shown to decrease abdominal fat and lowers insulin resistance."

I walk up and down my house too..it's the same as using my treadmill only much more interesting ...and it's so hot here its impossible to walk outdoors even in the evening ....also mall walking is a great idea, when it's evening and less people!

I find that I have to keep my fat intake up. It is essential for me because fats help to keep me satisfied. I also have to eat quite a bit of sweet fruit. I sweeten either fresh or frozen fruit with both Agave syrup and stevia (which I really don't like, but works well with grapefruit). I have to do this because like many Gatherers, I am very susceptible to starch and sugar. The fats help me with starch control and the sweetened fruit helps to keep me from eating refined sugar.
These might not be super-ideal in some ways...I know that my portions and frequencies are off from the plan...but I'm strong enough that I can put in very hard exercise most days, which helps me to lose weight. It is very important for me to not lose control of what I eat....this is probably my biggest struggle...and eating enough fat and sweetened fruit helps me.
I think that, down the road, I will be able to reduce the sweetness of the fruit. Already, just 5 weeks in, I am noticing that my sugar cravings are subsiding and candy and the likes are beginning to lose their appeal for me and their hold on me. I'm hoping to cut down the need for the sweetener over the next few months (although I'll probably always need some agave on the frozen peaches w. frozen raspberries that I like to eat).

Yes, I forgot to mention that this is an important part of my daughter's eating program also. Fats are an important part of attaining a healthy weight.

I just started my Gatherer SWAMI diet on Sunday but not expecting miracles like someone mentioned already. I have finally found an exercise program I enjoy (Zumba) and do that 3 or 4 times a week. At the end of the day I believe it's calories in, calories out. I am trying to close watch my portions and frequencies. As a matter of fact, I have only been really hungry once since starting and that was because I didn't have enough to eat at breakfast.
Even though I am not a scientist and don't understand all tht Dr. D. says, what he does say (that I understand) makes a lot of sense. I love drinking the membrane fluidizer cocktail in the morning, it makes me feel so good. Sometimes I see my cells taking the nutrients in and doing their thing ( guess it's the Bness in me).Of course this will make oil compliance a bit challenging. But I think I will make it this time, and so can the rest of you.

Equipro, you have the right idea! using agave and stevia helped me with smoothies for a long while...they have become unnecessary in recent months...or wks...whatever. in other words, w/out tryimg I just don't reach for them or any other sweetener....except the rare banana.

My weight lost was on the BTD plan, then I had something that happened, that put me back up, and then the weight lost was on the gatherer, but just a couple of weeks ago, I made it personal and was swamiX remained a gatherer, but quite a few changes. So we will see how that goes.
I also added Byetta, to my diabetic care, and a side effect of it is weight lost, and I have been able to cut my meds by 3/4 since being on it, and my glucose numbers, are staying pretty even now. Hope to soon get off of novolog 70/30, and only be on byetta, either with or without diabetic pill glimperide..
With the SWAMIX I have realized more stamina, mood elevated even through a very stressful time a bit over a week ago, accepting, being there, and dealing with emotions.
Victoria, Has your daughter lost weight on the gatherer plan?.
Yes. She is having great success with the Gatherer eating plan. She never was severely overweight, but she always seemed to carry 10 pounds too much, and in the wrong places. She felt good on the BTD but it didn't help her weight, and she felt like she was fighting with her food and her body all the time.
The Gatherer diet has brought her a lot of peace because it has stopped food cravings and redistributed the weight so that she looks and feels way slimmer, and fit. Interesting that she only had about 10 pounds to lose but she looks like she dropped way more than that.
