Hello Dr.D,
First of all, just want to mention that I a very fond of you and the work that you do. Keep it up. I think you are a very knowledgable person.
I have a few questions that maybe you can answer for me.
First, re: urine pH. I know that you have some knowledge  about the pH balance of the whole body chemistry.I was wondering if a person's urine pH tests for acidity, could that be an indication that their uric acid levels might be high leading to gout?
Second, my mom who is 83 yrs of old and is a blood type O drinks quite a bit of these protein drinks, such as ensure, boost & carnation instant breakfast and everyone of them contains sugar, dairy, & carageenan-an avoid for type A's like me, which I stay clear away from-bad stuff, I would like to know if there is a healthier & safer alternative she can have. I know they are okay nutritionally, but not otherwise.
Third, I am wondering for myself since I have a celiac condition,if it would be okay to eat soba noodles, I have to be very careful what I consume in certain foods, and since in your blood type book you mention that they are 100% buckwheat. Could I eat these in moderation instead of rice or corn pasta for a change of pace and taste? If I can eat them, how do I cook them? and where can I get them?
When you have an opportunity, you can reply back to me and let me know about the above,
Thanks,
Michelle rae

Non-gluten 'grains': millet, quinoa, rice, buckwheat.
guess those are fine

gout in an O is caused by eating avoids, not by eating the right protein sources

a lectin free diet will cure her gout.....ask her to avoid the coffee asap!

Dr D is usually pretty busy but there are alot of very knowledgeable people on here that have been following the BTD for quite a long time. If he doesn't have time to respond it is just because he is busy and may not have seen this thread. For him to personally answer all our questions would take loads of time.

Buckwheat isn't actually "wheat" and is good if you can handle the flavor. It is gluten free. Just make sure that you are getting 100% buckwheat as most buckwheat can contain some wheat due to being processed in the same place as wheat flour or just even have some mixed right in cause it's cheaper than 100% buckwheat. Corn pasta should be avoided. Corn is generally not a good idea for anyone as the majority of corn is genetically modified and also doesn't do well with any blood types.

Soba (buckwheat) noodles can be purchased online. Or if you find a natural health food store they should carry them and if they don't you can ask them to bring them in for you. Or you could check out an asian market. Look for 100% buckwheat soba noodles. To cook...

This will explain buckwheat and how to cook soba buckwheat noodles.

Persistent acidic urine (pH 5-7) may be indicative of gout, fever, phenacetin intake and predisposition to kidney stones. Using the pH strips to test your urine just gives you a general idea that something is out of balance. It will not say which one of those it is. I wouldn't personally use it to test for gout. If you have gout... you will know you have gout.  By following your blood type and being compliant to your specific type will heal and fix anything pertaining to gout and acidity in the urine. That is what I have learned thus far.

As far as supplement drinks... what Lola said.

Hope this helps!

O positive baby boy.

However I can answer your first question

Not usually. Urine acidity does not correlate typically with uric acid levels in the body. In fact urine acidity does not correlate with acidity in the body, since the body removes hydrogen ions from the blood to keep it alkaline, so in fact a slightly acid urine often means that the system is working well.

Awesome! Good to know about the acid/alkaline urine info. I was always taught... well, what I previous stated. Yay for slightly acidic pee! K I really need to get some sleep.

Hi Michelle,    We are very fond of Dr. D, also!

I make my own blender drinks.  It is a fantastic way to prepare a super-food meal that is easy to consume, easy to digest and customized to my own tastes.

You could get the blood-type specific protein drink as others have mentioned and use it as the base for the drink.

Or just build a smoothie from all beneficial foods on your (or her) food list.

I use:
Pineapple Juice
yogurt
blueberries and sweet cherries (I buy frozen, then slow simmer them until reduced, and keep in the fridge)
freshly ground golden flaxseeds and chia seeds (2 Tb and 1 Tb)
ARA6 (larch tree fiber from the BTD store)
1 rounded Tb Lecithin
1 tsp. Proberry (from the BTD store) or a squirt of elderberry tincture

Sometimes I use some powdered greens, such as Harmonia, or powdered wheat grass, which I can buy at my natural food store.

Type A's can blend soft tofu. Some can use Yogurt or soy yogurt.  Type O's can use Eggwhite Powder or Rice Powder, etc.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me not pass you by in quest
of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

footprints.... your mom is O forget what you know as A.. I am O and I can tell you That I NEVER wish to incarnate as on A.. scary all that A stuff and worry..

O's are strong even when old and weak.. give your mom food .. O food!! have mom EAT her fruit and DRINK juiced veggies.

for a shake make your own.. vegetables juiced green red and orange and yellow veggies in juice form will give her much nourishment that the body can absorb right away. no need to first process.  ad on egg hardboiled or raw and you have a great protein drink.

You can cook veggies for hours in water with beef pieces in it.. cook all the good stuff into the liquid, then remove the veggies but give mom the broth.  add on egg stir it in .. or in the form of skinny omelet slices and again she has a good quick absorbed food much healthier then all that commercial stuff.

If she is not able to eat being weak is one type of food, but if she is able to swallow she will need more foods that will provide her innards with bulk as well.. ( juiced veg is bulk also )  if she has severe intestinal issues, I make oatmeal cooked in a broth for about 20 -30 minutes, then strain all the husks, just using the pulp and have her eat that with cinnamon or on egg or some jelly.. it is very soothing.

Other things to eat is ripe bananas mashed like for a baby.  it provides potassium needed for the heart.

I would also use sea salt - not being afraid- to give her some strength.  spices for living with tasty foods and odors wafting through the house.. OR using a fan if smells make her ill..

ALL this is predicted on the thinking that you are near by and can help your mom.  If she is far away, then she is much more reliant on what she can get.  For a few days MOM need to really perk up after surgery.. BOOST had the best effect I think it has caffeine in it???  but after a few days I made carrot juice and apple juice and fruit juice for a few days, just to get her to notice her own taste buds again.. good luck.

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

Interesting Lola, just ran to look at our tart cherry juice. 0% Vitamin C. Must mean fresh (or frozen?) or freeze dried? and reconstituted. I thought there was something else in cherry juice that was beneficial that might not degrade when bottled. Ours comes in brown glass to protect from light.

Hmmm...

Interested for hubby esp with uric acid and possible (likely) kidney stone.

You are a fountain of knowledge.
