on hunter it says spinach is an avoid.. I thought spinach is good for you? Same with lettuce? And carrots? oh and raisins. I just bought like 2 lbs of raisins lol.
Is there a.. database of some sort that explains each food and why it's an avoid or beneficial?
thanks |

well the BTD is a good way to start.. The food VALUES for Geno don't change just the designation of Benficials or avoids.. change some.. so depending on which diet you ought to be on.. (young age would dictate GENO) unless you are concerned with diabetes from your parents or grandparents..
lettuce I think it has little food value .. carrots might be too sweet.. spinach has some things in it that might not be good..
for now at your age.. you don't need to go freaky about what you can not have.. it is more important that you ADD the new foods that are going to be good for you.. but do keep reading..
If you only have the Geno book and would like to learn more about the evolution of the diet over the last 15 years.. go to the library and read all the books they have .. especially the books on specific issues like diabetes and the like.. they explain about non secretors.. Did you take that test??
are you a Tester in GENO??
are you very sensitive to body changes or gaining weight?? or allergic? that all will tell you what you are.. and why..
stay the course and ask all questions.. you can also ask them in ONE thread we will answer many times on all subjects you raise.. after a while we get to know you.. I did and it's great.. helping each other ..
if my computer was not acting up today I would have looked things up for you.. but it is way slow all day..
and re-read all the food look up every so often as you learn about the new laguadge here the words will take on new or better meanings.. |

Spinach is high in oxalates (associated with kidney stones) so that could be the reason But raisins are a black dot for Hunters & since they are dried they should last a while you eat them sparingly? Mind you, black dots should ideally be reintroduced in 3-6 months, when your body has had a chance to heal |

If you ever do a SWAMI it will have reasons for the avoids. I am a Hunter and both spinach and carrots are neutral on my SWAMI. |

Since you just stocked up on BTD (blood type diet) foods, you may want to simply follow the BTD for now, and then switch over to GTD at some point in the future. This could be in a few months, or when you've gone through the current stash of food and need to go grocery shopping again.
It's also very easy to make a mistake when calculating your genotype, especially if you didn't have help when taking the measurments. You KNOW you're an O. |

I gained spinach, lettuce and carrots back as neutrals on my Swami. Raisins are OK too!

ok thanks for responses. I think I want to try the hunter diet, just cuz I want to follow what best suits me. And I made sure I did the measurements right, double checked them.
Plus I scored very high on the strength meter for hunter. The only ones I didn't add points for was 2+ family having autoimmune diseases, and I'm not sure if I'm a super taster or not. But I got a score off 22, and possibly 27 if I am a super taster. So I'm pretty much positive I'm hunter.
Oh and I thought it was my internet that was having problems yesterday too... But since you were having problems too, I think it must have been the site.
Oh and thanks lola for the links. I guess I'll just try to avoid them for a while. Or just cutting down as much as I can. Plus, my diet before this Bt/gtd was eating tons of lettuce and spinach, and my stomach would always feel funny after eating too much of it. So.. I guess he knows best. |

I have had to update my SWAMI 3 times and carrots went from a bene to a neutral and then to avoid and then back to neutral. Hmmmm. Trust the SWAMI! |

Kathleen, my new genotype book lists carrots, lettuce, spinach, and raisins all as black dots for hunters. Ecstasy, I was also surprised by those values, but I have ditched them, and I am feeling heaps less bloat, especially with the lettuce (which, I might add, I have never liked but ate it because it was "good for me" ) Just trust the program and see what happens! |

yeah. I sometimes wish that he would give some kind of explanation though. |

You can only put so much into a book you sell to the general public...and the explanation has to be fairly easy to understand. I recommend start reading the massive amount of Dr. D's writings that are here on the web. Lots and lots of information there... |

snazzyshaz, yes I think the book does list them as black do avoids for us hunters. However, when I swamified myself , the genotype diet was customized for ME and many of the values changed. I'm so glad that many avoids and black dot avoids moved to the neutral column |

Kathleen, I am looking forward to doing Swami for myself...it is on its way right now. I think the individual values are the way to go. My secretor value tipped me from Hunter over into Explorer, but the one week I did on Explorer foods was really NOT good. So, in the meantime, while Swami crosses the passage fron NZ to Australia, I have gone back to BTD for nonnies. Am doing much better. I am hoping for an expanded list of options - ostrich, partridge and quail are not readily available where I am,and I am having trouble trying to relish the thought of tucking into a big plate of them anyway |
