I'm just curious...seems like I read in one of the threads that some O was allowed to have coconut or coconut oil on genotype / SWAMI.  Is this possible?

Coconut Oil is a neutral for Type O nonsecretors and is a "Limit or Avoid" for Hunters.  On my Swami it is a neutral.

On my Swami it is an avoid (as are all other parts of the coconut).

Yeah....I thought that I'd remembered something like that, when I bought that coconut ice-cream the other night.

The only way it affected me was the all-night long gas.

Soon to find out...when I run the SWAMI!!  I may be allowed to have it, and it may have been detox symptoms for all I know!

I don't think coconut milk or coconut meat or coconut water are OK for any blood type or genotype (therefore it's highly unlikelyt they'd  be neutral or better on anybody's SWAMI.) It's only the coconut OIL, free from coconut sugars and protiens, that's neutral for some Os.

Really?  Coconut was not listed in the LR4YT book, and it says that whatever is not listed is neutral, so I assumed that it was.

I don't have the LR4YT book in front of me right now, but I know I've looked it up, and I beleive coconut is an avoid for all Os and Bs. I don't think it was with the nuts though- did you check with the listing for fruits? And scroll through all the "tier one" "tier two" and "neutral" lists too- I find that organization to be so confusing! I wish all the foods were simply listed alphabetically, not divided into categories where you have to guess where to find it (would ginger be under spices or vegetables? Is stevia a spice or a sweetener?)

Here's the typbase for coconut milk: It seems I've misremembered- it's not an avoid for everybody, just every body in my family.

Well, then...how can it be a neutral with SWAMI??  This sort of thing confuses me.  I've read so many threads where a former toxin has become a neutral or bene on SWAMI.

The books contain values that  are rating for a whole class of people.

SWAMI considers an individuals health needs, and determines a rating considering many more factors than either the Blood Type or GenoType diet consider. The ratings in SWAMI are for that individual not for a group of people.

The ratings are determined by all the data on the data intake form not simply the entries for blood type and GenoType.

Therefore the rating of particular foods may be higher than lower than those of the blood type or GenoType diet.

just like certain things you utterly enjoy which are toxins to others with your same BT or GT, but cause great trouble to some, while no effect whatsoever on you.

whatever is not listed is neutral

yes, but in the GTD book, cause neutrals aren t listed at all

unlisted foods, before GTD came out, were to be considered neutral.....unless a noticeable reaction when ingesting

but coconut oil and coconut milk were listed in LRFYT
the milk is made out of the pulp

Interesting...I tried the Rice Dream ice cream tonight (I had bought it the same night as the coconut milk green tea ice-cream.)  I had a reaction to it.  I felt tired immediately, and kind of achy, like I felt when I ate regular ice cream in the past.  It was that old familiar feeling, that I DON'T want to go back to!!!

However, when I ate the coconut milk ice-cream, I felt no different from before eating it!  I had absolutely no reaction to it, except for the gas (no bloating).  My facial skin looked really great the day after eating it!     And I felt great, too.  I've always enjoyed coconut anything, except for eating the coconut oil by itself.  That is nauseating!

So....can this mean that I can eat coconut milk ice-cream?
Or is it doing hidden damage to me without my knowing it?
Can there be damage going on without any reaction to the food?
What does the gas without bloating or gas pains mean?

Yes..I know that I can find out with SWAMI soon, but I'm just not ready for it time-wise.

What are the ingredients in the rice dream ice cream? I know I've looked at it in the store before and passed it by after reading the ingredients.

All that gas is a reaction! I would suggest staying away from the coconut milk ice cream- if it's making you gassy, it's upsetting your gut, and that can potentially affect how you react to all foods in the next few days. Or it might just make you gassy until it's finished making its way out and cause no other damage. But there's no way to tell.

Considering that it didn't affect your energy or pain levels, it's probably a better choice for you than dairy ice cream or rice dream ice cream, and is probably worth eating 1-3 times a year for very special occasions. But more often than that is asking for trouble.

The Rice Dream does have a lot of avoids in it. This was mint carob chip.  Actually, it really tasted awful!  I wouldn't buy it or eat it again!  I only had a little bit and had a reaction!

Ingredients: filtered water, organic brown rice syrup, organic rice dextrin, organic agave syrup, organic expeller pressed sunflower oil and/or safflower oil and/or canola oil, malt sweetened carob chip (barley and corn malt powder, palm kernel oil, carob powder, soy lecithin), organic tapioca starch, soy lecithin, natural peppermint flavor, sea salt, guar gum, carrageenan, organic carob bean gum.

Manufactured in a plant that uses peanuts, milk, eggs, wheat and tree nuts. Good manufacturing practices are used to prevent introduction of these or any other unlabeled allergens in the product.

It seems that certain sugars cause me to react.  Seems that the agave syrup in the coconut ice-cream didn't affect me in any way.

There's corn and barley in that rice based dessert, plus 3 different kinds of gums. Gums are likely to cause GI distress but less likely to cause systemic reactions- but noncompliant grains (barley and corn) can cause a lot of damage!

The coconut milk ice creams, IIRC, are basically coconut milk and agave, plus whatever flavors they add (I always bought the simpler flavors). The coconut milk is rich enough so they don't need to use any thickeners, and it's a very pure product- it's just that coconut isn't compliant.

Coconut oil is a superfood on my Swami - the meat and the milk are both avoids.

Like Possum and Ruthie both said, that Rice Dream concoction contains a whole mess of nasties - would certainly make me feel ill

Yeah...the coconut ice cream had all organic ingredients and quite pure.  Didn't care for the green tea flavor so much, because it was bitter, but the agave nectar didn't bother me at all.
