Must have picked up a bug due to sitting at the side of an indoor pool the other night, plus too much running around -

Any quick remedy to ease the pain and symptoms for a few days - got old friends coming over for the weekend. after that I'll rest and eat well which should sort it.

The earlier you act the easier will be to stop the development into anything worse.  Gargle with salt in warm water, keep throat warm and boost the immune system with your diamond foods and BT supps like Proberry!!

Put a drop or two of hydrogen peroxide in each ear and let it frizzle for 5-10 minutes, you'll have to lay on your side so the drops stay in. You can gargle with hydrogen peroxide too, salt water is excellent as well. Drink warm water with lemon. There are many home remedies for sore throat, let me know if you'd like more

I would love to read about some more.

I read somewhere that gargling with cayenne pepper was good and since it is a beneficial for me i tried it, holy jeepers it was i shock to the system, but bearable, also d=some "O" sip Right tea seemed to sooth.

ever heard of the pepper one, and maybe some refinements of it. few.....

policychecker, hello

If you want to try this, it has been a knock out for sore throats in our house for 20 some years! If guests are at the house and mention a sore throat I always offer to make this for them, and they most often have added it to their own arsenal.

Finely chop 1 or 2 cloves garlic
1 tsp to 1 TBSP honey (use discretion)
juice of one lemon
1/8 to 1/4 tsp cayenne

Mix well and drink. Some have to follow this with a 'chaser' of a glass of water, others don't.
Start with one clove garlic if you want. Hope you get some relief from your sore throat

Here's a few more from Chinese Med world, mine Chinese med world at any rate. No order, just some options, see what appeals and try it!
1) Gua Sha on back of neck, you can Google this too. Basically oil the back of neck and scrape with the smooth edge of a Chinese soup spoon. Do this until you have a nice pink color. Scrape from the hairline to a bit past where the shoulders start, OK to go further down too.
2) Using the thumb nail of the opposite hand press until painful and hold for as long as you can a point on the medial side of the thumb just next to the nail. Lung 11 by name, you can Google. Also do this on the index finger, Large Intestine 1 by name. Repeat this treatment through out the day.
3) Heat using the outside of a hot mug the first knuckle of the middle finger, both sides.
4) Lemon Balm, Mint, and Yarrow tea. If you have any Honey Suckle flowers those would be great.
5) Herbal patent formula "Yin Chiao"
6) Epsom salt bath with 1 cup salts and 1 cup baking soda, helps detox and alkalinize the system.
7) Skin brushing.

I'm a big fan of home remedies (compliant), proberry and if it persists, I will try one of various homeopathic remedies...depending on the whole set of symptoms.  Not sure if that interests you, but if it does, there are a few on-line look-ups that will help you narrow down a remedy based on all your symptoms, if you have access to the remedies.  Many natural food-type stores are starting to sell single remedies...good luck!

More important is to take a antihistamin so the nasal stuff does not ever drip down the back,, do it early and its stays dry..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

Errr....I have to say that this doesn't work with some people, it can drive the virus deeper increasing the possibility of secondary infection or of a return of the virus, after all the tissues are trying to clean themselves and wash out the intruder, if the tissues are dry it can be stuck in there. If you want to deal with the post nasal drip use a Neti pot. I admit I have a certain prejudice against antihistamines, sort of a vocational thing I guess , but I have seen a lot of folks with colds and heard lots of stories about what they did and what their friends do and like that......

1. floss
2. brush
3. clove tea (add a dash of ground clove to a glass of water)

Use the clove tea as a mouthwash/gargle. You may drink the tea as well. Take small sips throughout the day to inhibit bacteria growth. I use a mixture of clove oil and other essential oils diluted with water as a mouthwash every day. Keeps my mouth happy  .

For Os: If you have chronic sore throat, try taking Astragalus and Elderberry supplements. Astragalus is anti-bacterial, and Elderberry boosts your immune system. You can stop taking them as soon as your symptoms subside. Your body should be able to handle the rest. Just stick to the diet.

6) Epsom salt bath with 1 cup salts and 1 cup baking soda, helps detox and alkalinize the system.Thought it was worth passing on...for anyone trying this...

As there were no actual directions on our packets re amounts etc I rang & got told by the company, that 20 mins max or else the toxins can get reabsorbed...

I don't know if you can have aloe, but fresh aloe mixed in the blender with a compliant juice is terrific for sore throat.

Deflect O is a good gargle, although it doesn't taste good at all, it works.  Combine with an herbal tea or strong unsweetened cranberry juice to take the seaweed edge off.

Loving this thread....I have been battling a sore throat for about a month.  Had a bad "bug" for 36 hours, then got to feeling better, but then lost my voice for a week!  The sore throat has lingered.  I have been exceedingly compliant for the last week, and the sore throat is almost gone.

I'm beginning to think  sore throats are common for O's.... am I right?

Judging for this thread it seems so, just two As posting in a flooood.  But,  we As do have them too,  DD had a nasty one recently.  Antibiotics were prescribed, she completed the one prescription and had a repeat in case needed.  Sure enough, soon after the antibiotics finished, the symptoms started to come back!! She wisely opted not to take the second dose of antibiotics and give Naps immune pack with Proberry, Ara plus and Redoxa a go instead.  It seems her symptoms have been arrested so far.  We will continue monitoring the situation, but I my bet is that the supps awith  maximum compliance will do the trick, as long as she stays with it ...

My friend (type O) recently complained of a sore throat he had for about a month. I suggested that he start flossing daily, and I gave him some essential oils (clove, tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, thyme) diluted in water to use as a mouthwash after flossing and brushing. I also gave him astragalus and elderberry supplements. Within a few days I asked him about his sore throat, and he happily replied that it was all gone. He was still taking the supplements, so I said he should stop taking them, continue flossing and using the mouthwash, and see if the symptoms come back. If the sore throat returns, he will need to try something else. I would suggest the BTD for starters .

Since I started flossing every day and using essential oils, I no longer get sore throat, sinus pressure, or gingivitis. I can't stress enough the importance of flossing and clove (oil/spice), especially for O's. This is not the first time I have suggested this to O's on this forum. In fact, I've lost count. I should start a thread: "Flossing for Dummies" lol, jk

I'm no doctor, but just think about it: If you're an O and eat an animal protein based diet, those foods can easily get stuck in your teeth and begin harboring bacteria such as candida. Combine this with the O's susceptibility to bacteria and viruses and voila, you get oral, ear, nose, throat, and even digestive problems.

1. floss
2. brush
3. clove

I have been exceedingly compliant for the last week

does this imply you had not been or are not as compliant during the times when you feel great?

no, sore throats are not a common trait in compliant Os
