Sighs.. it happens every once in awhile... I get a  sore throat for a few days.. and in this case the real deal  "cold"..... chills...  not sure if I had fever.... but in any case, now I feel ok, but my voice is GONE.... it always leaves after I am sick.....
so I feel fine but don't  have my voice.....

any advice??  I  read that anise oil swabbed  inside the throat helps... got some...   have also done the apple cider vinegar  with cayenne gargle... I see some improvement, but what else might help?

The few times I have lost my voice, I say the same thing. I love to talk!!
Seriously, I think it is like other URIs. We each have areas we get sick in. Most folks have good old-fashioned colds in the nose, but some get ear infections, some get throat infections, & other may get it in their lungs or sinuses. Somewhere on this forum I have said that since menopause I have this cough. It is caused by certain allergens or food comnbinations. Before this, I don't remember coughing so much. So, what I'm saying is that we have weaknesses in certain parts of our bodies.......
Try warm liquids, eat lighter, etc.

But in doubt, you can always call your dr. They know certian things.....or wait for Lola to respond!!!!

I don't lose my voice often but I kinda like losing it every now and then.  A brief time for a new way to communicate.  Focus on diamonds/beneficials, enjoy teas, and spend some silent time.

Years ago this would happen to me constantly for years.  The ND I used then told me to take red clover (not sure of blood type compliance for this) and think of what it is I am holding in and not saying that needs to be said.  As weird as it sounds once I learned to speak my mind, I would still get sick sometimes but never did I lose my voice again.  Maybe it wasn't that but whatever...it did work.  Just thought I would share.

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

thank you all...
I'm on day  4 and my voice is slowly returning....
I had some sort of terrible bug, though.. my throat was ON FIRE!!!!  I did by the anise oil and swabbed my throat down with it.. it  DID relieve it, but didn't bring my voice back.
I broke down and had my husband prescribe some antibiotics for me.. it's been years and years since I've taken any, so I decided I needed to do SOMETHING..
this  has been really awful....

It has taken me 10 years to loose 20 pounds.. and 10 after that and in between I added the same pounds I lost and had to take them off again .. I am succeeding with maybe .5 pd a month if I really succeed at figuring out what I can eat and what not.

I changed back to BTD because the test told me to do so.. I am ok with it.. I think I learned a little about what I can eat.. and I am learning step by step, I lost 2 pounds recently finally in 8 weeks.. but I had to really change and accommodate my way of 'cheating' at night, by eating my foods later in the day.. it might be working better,, but I do have to look out that I stay compliant.  I feel for you.. but talk about it might help .. it did for me as I learned from people here .. and I am still learning..

today I cut my prunes into 3 parts so I can make it last longer and feel like real snack.. added a few nuts but would like sunflower seeds better..

am I making sense?? I wish you encouragement.. what else is going on??

Last year I lost my voice and then had a dentist appointment.  It was so embarrassing!  I had to write my name down for the receptionist because she couldn't understand me.

I don’t know if this relates, but a couple of years ago I asked for advice on this forum for my son who is the lead singer in a local band.  The 2 suggestions that he follows are pineapple juice (he takes a bottle of organic on stage with him) and oil of peppermint (he sniffs it to clear the sinuses).
