I was wondering if anyone had extra ideas other than cheese to prevent overgrowth of bacteria in intestines.

It does a lot for me to eat cheese for that matter but then... I get constipated and feel bad. My life is better with almost zero dairy for sure. I get tired and the calcium is hard on my kidneys.

I have been drinking Kombucha because it helps too.

However Kombucha is expensive. I am wondering what other things I can do to choke the bacteria out other than cheese. I had some severe candida die off symptoms the other day and seem to really be getting past it. However the bacteria is giving my digestions problems. It is making me feel stressed out. I am having kidney trouble from the inflamed state of stress with blood etc... (warrior thing I guess) My urine has smells to it. My ability to process things slows down in general to the point that I can not even eat soy. Usually though I can ingest alcohol, soy, you name it, if the bacteria is under control.

I think eventually the bacteria and whatever it is allowing it to happen will be flushed but I need alternatives to Kombucha and cheese for now so I do not have kidney failure.

Are you actually eating the recommended portion and frequency of vegies and cheese?  In my warrior plan, I have to eat 5 cups of vegies a day!!  My warrior cheeses portions are small portions 3 times a week, which I spread over the whole week by grating it over my vegies and carbs.  And by the time I add the right fruit for my diet and carbs and proteins, I get enough roughage and good intestinal environment for the good workers inside to do their job.  Are you strict with your portions and frequency?

no good infos..DoS... but perhaps you might give a try to MMS ....

Pao D'arco and garlic are a good idea...... but sorry go into with hugest amounts... really hugest!!!... If not... tsk.. it won't do anything...

I made the experience since a while with that blo.. product called MMS that it really did all things mentioned that other products didn't...
so far... ugly for the taste and smell but worth to give a try ....

I find myself naturally following the portion sizes until the bacteria gets out of control.... Then I eat a lot and get no where. When I am doing well I pretty much just eat vegetables and crave them. I eat some fish and nuts as well sporadically. Grains I eat a tiny bit off but not much. I could care less for them most of the time. There are only a couple I can eat anyways on my list. The majority on my list are not grains, they are just vegetable protein that contain some carbohydrates. Fruit come sand goes. In all likelihood I might end up under eating a little. I feel fine though, no lack of energy or anything until the bacteria problem comes back.

Well actually I eat less cheese than recommended but enjoy a tiny thing of paneer throughout the week.

The hard cheeses I eat the recommended or a bit more to get the bacteria to back off. I had to for awhile as eating a little bit sprinkled on stuff did not work.

I will look for some Pau Darco tea!

What are your symptoms?  How do you know you have bacterial overgrowth?   I'm also curious about cheese and bacterial overgrowth.  Does hard cheese give the bacteria and unfriendly environment?

Have you considered making your own kombucha? I brew my own, the store-bought stuff is way too pricey and I can't handle the caffeine.

For a modest initial outlay for supplies and an initial culture, I now drink it for literally pennies to the pint. Maintenance is easy and the little darlings breed themselves right on my counter-top.

My symptoms are everything to do with candida. Then it was like if I ate certain things I would burp when it was worse.

It is clear I am feeding someone else than myself when it gets bad. I am too hungry and not going to the bathroom. My body gets starved of carbohydrates. It is clear. It instantly stops when the bacteria backs down. The only things that make it back down are having diarrhea, komucha, and hard cheese.

My roommate makes kombucha and I will bug him about making more so I can have some... he makes it all, takes up all the space, and makes it impossible for me to be included and consuming. We are getting good at doing it. I think I got that aspect covered.

I got some Pau D'Arco tea. I got some more chicory root as well. Hopefully with the ghee and oat bran in my diet as the bacteria is down I will recover and put to waste all of the bad stuff. It seems clear to me that the bacteria in me only breeds out of something stuck in my system. I suspect red meat lining my intestines, and as it gets removed so does the bacteria. It has changed to the point where I can consume sugar without a problem. However I still feel like there is something that has not fully passed. I can feel my intestinal track pretty well and understand when it feels right, cleared out, etc... It feels like there is still a small focal point (look it sometimes too when I use restroom and have bacteria issues going on) that is just not cleared out or still inflamed or something...

Something called okra-pepsin-E3 (Standard Process) is supposed to help clean out the lining of the small intestines. I don't know if you can have okra. How do you do with pineapple and/or papaya? If you do have buildup, maybe they could help you get rid of it, along with okra, if that's on your list. Things like turmeric and fennel seed can also be cleansing, as is magnesium. Have you tried some of the supplements like Polyflora, ARA Plus, or Live Cell? With the many changes you've had with shifting diets, maybe the intestinal flora is so out of whack right now that getting the right probiotics could be important.

I've never had Kombucha and it is a black dot for me. I am dealing with my body totally rejecting anything with mold/yeast, unless in tiny amounts. After removing the majority of those from my diet, I now have such unbelievable sensitivity to foods that bother me. Yogurt has become something I can't deal with; apparently it something people with mold allergies sometimes have to remove. Hopefully my immune system will calm down and the mold spores outside will dissipate so I don't have to micromanage mold in my diet. For me, cheeses, fermented foods, and brewer's yeast have become problematic because of this. You might think about whether allergies have anything to do with your problem, as they can disturb the gut as much as our avoids do. Obviously, if you have ongoing candida and/or bacteria problems, those alone could be challenging.

I will try to eat some okra. If it is not food I stay away now because of price. I love pineapple. Perhaps I will use more turmeric; I have been light on turmeric lately.

Probiotics only do anything for me when I am cleaned out from bacteria.

L. reuteri as an anti-microbial agent
In the late 1980s, Walter Dobrogosz, Ivan Casas, and their colleagues discovered that L. reuteri produced a novel broad-spectrum antibiotic substance via the organism's fermentation of glycerol. They named this substance "reuterin", also after Gerhard Reuter.[13] Reuterin is a multi-compound dynamic equilibrium (HPA system, HPA) consisting of 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde, its hydrate, and its dimer.[14][15] At concentrations above 1.4 M, the HPA dimer was predominant. However, at concentrations relevant for biological systems, HPA hydrate was the most abundant, followed by the aldehyde form.[16]

Reuterin, it was found, inhibits the growth of some harmful Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, along with yeasts, fungi, and protozoa[17]. Naturally, a gut organism capable of fighting off other, harmful gut organisms was of great interest. Researchers found that L. reuteri can indeed secrete sufficient amounts of reuterin to cause the desired anti-microbial effects. Furthermore, since about 4-5 times the amount of reuterin is needed to kill "good" gut bacteria (i.e. L. reuteri and other Lactobacillus species) as "bad", this would allow L. reuteri to remove gut invaders while keeping normal gut flora intact



L. Reuteri is a strain of bacteria contained in Polyflora A.

The imagines do not work on the first page but the link works for me.

Maybe I should try L. Reuteri but I am a little skeptical because typically suppression means only do anything.

However my right kidney again feels funny. I hate that my kidneys are being damaged. This seems so ridiculous at my age. I have no idea if it is permanent or just irritation.

I do that when I am eating cheese. The truth is I just hate eating dairy. I prefer zero relatively. I mean too much yogurt with peanuts strains my kidneys...

I did really poorly eating like an Explorer though. The Teacher/SWAMIX diet has caused some major improvements but must be a much higher mold/yeast diet than a ER4YT A diet, seeing my allergies got better on that. I think I just need to adjust those foods, but I will see an allergist to see exactly what's going on.

As for turmeric, I read it's important to follow that (after a few hours) with a probiotic or yogurt. I hope you get relief soon!

I'm curious why it's important to follow turmeric with yogurt or probiotics.  I just bought some turmeric and plan to use it more.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I relate to many of your symptoms, burping, feeling red meat is stuck, etc.  I just started the Warrior diet and Swami from Dr. D and feel so much better since I cut out lamb... only 1/week and turkey 1/week..  My digestion is much better. I was overdoing it on the turkey and lamb and I now surprisingly am feeling smoother digestion and less burping.  I've also been taking NAP probiotics, Ara-6 larch, deflect, etc.  Hemp seeds have also helped with  my digestion. I put it on oatmeal or have it as a snack.

One more question, is store bought Kombucha okay or does it have some weird things in it?

There is no reason not to drink store bought Kombucha. Some claim the caffeine is too much but I have never found it to be much of a problem. It is the equivalent of like a cup of green tea worth that is left over, maybe, from what I can tell.

The store bought stuff is actually better than the first batch you will make. Typically a starter batch requires vinegar, and they do not use it after the first batch.

OMG, I hate kombucha. It's not even a beneficial for me.   First time I  had it I thought it was bad. I didn't know it's supposed to taste that way.  I recommend  Polyflora for A's and Larch also.  I eat  a LOT of yogurt. Most of my life.  Also the naturally fermented vegetables that the members make here would be good.

Hm well to each their own! I know people who do not feel right without Kombucha. I know for me it does more good than harm by far. That may change but has not yet.

Maybe it is a non-secreter thing or something...
