Recently during a casual conversation with a couple in NC I ventured to ask what blood type they were...they then shocked me by responding..."oh, are you on the Blood Type Diet too...my husband & I follow that also". Usually, I get these weird looks and comments like..."what does blood type have to do with what I eat". It turns out that a niece of theirs from AZ recommended the diet to them and they say that they feel so much better since eliminating the Avoids They are both Type O. I'd love to know who that niece is...so if you read this post & it sounds like I'm describing you...please say hello.
Oh, how nice! It must be a delight when you find someone else who not only knows what you're talking about when you mention the BTD, but they're following it too! Hope you were able to exchange addies so you can keep in touch

Yes, I did get their email address. They even have the book ER4YT, I was so happy to speak with them. I asked them to tell their niece about me. I hope they tell her & that she gets in touch with me.

I come across people following the diet all over Latin America, advised by their practitioners, yet those don t even bother in getting certified or updating themselves.....
well at least they spread the word!

That's terrific Rex!!! So good to find people "on the same page" out there, isn't it .... Hoping this doesn't hijack your thread... but.... I am just loving working part time in a HFS (been there just over 6 weeks now;)) especially as its in a wonderfully friendly community/suburb with some great customers... Even in that short time, I have already found the opportunity to "connect" with a few people on this level & my latest particularly receptive customer, has even made an appointment to come & talk to me more on this... He has had an ongoing "adult on set" case of ezcema & I have already suggested avoiding wheat to start with & am gonna lend him my book this week... He is an "O" btw & a colleague is convinced ezcema's sufferers (in general) should avoid meat, wheat & dairy... I agree on the second two but in the case of an "O" not sure on the avoiding meat.. Any thoughts?? Cheers
Avoiding meat isn't going to help with eczema on an O. Maybe on an A. If he follows the diet, it'll be a great start. How about rubbing coconut oil or vitamin E or something with zinc oxide on the affected skin until the diet takes care of it?

I'm so glad to read that the "word" is getting around. Dr. D can help so many if they would only have an open mind. I'm sad to report that the gal who first introduced me to the BDT in 2007 was told by her medical doctors to "get off that crazy diet because it's nonsense"...so she has abandoned it. I saw her last month & she told me that she had some major medical problems that sent her to the hospital & that's where she was advised to "give it up"...so she did.

That's so sad. If she were addicted to soda pop or coffee, I bet the dr. would say, "Go ahead. Enjoy it in moderation." But for plain food, that might be dangerous! That's a good thing about BTD. It's just plain food, so it can't hurt to try it!

Eczema might want to try the Derma by NAP store at the top of the page. Cleared up my daughters eczema around her eye.

DITTO!!
This from folks who no almost nothing about nutrition, because they think it's relatively unimportant for health. I can understand him saying, "That won't work," or "You're wasting your time," or something along those lines, but to suggest that it could be bad for you???

I absolutely love when I meet other BTDers. Never met anyone "IRL" who is on the GenoType Diet, though...that thrill is still to come, no doubt. My last related thrill was when I met my new primary care doctor (btw, I LOVE her and have been meaning to post a "rave" about same for weeks, but I've been so busy...I figure, I "rant" so much, I should "rave", too, when there is something or someone worth raving about, yes? Maybe later today!) and, upon learning that I occasionally take Proberry, she said something like, oh yes, that's a good one. And I said, wait a minute, you've heard of Proberry? Well, yes, she had!!! Just one of many incrementally thrilling things about this doctor that are snowballing into one, big, mega-thrill.
Anyway, whenever I meet anyone on the BTD, what I love best is that moment, that flash of recognition, when we simultaneously realize that we've just met a kindred spirit! It's like water to a thirsty beduin, baby! Like, aaaaaaaaaah, someone who gets it! Someone I don't have to even attempt to explain myself to. Someone who understands that I can eat grapefruit but not orange. *Whew*. Take a load off and set a spell, let's chat!

Girl, don't even get me started on the woman who first showed ER4YT to me. She is currently up in arms at her son's doctor because "he's not helping him!" Well, p.s., her son, QUOTING various snippets directly from my neighbor/his mom:
1. Drinks at least 10 "Red Bulls" per day 2. Smokes 3. Only eats one meal per day
This young guy (25) has rheumatoid arthritis and arrhythmia, and
4. Sleeps until 5:30 p.m. every day
No doctor can help someone if the someone won't help himself! Changing prescriptions isn't going to help this guy, he needs to QUIT SMOKING, and stop living on Red Bull and one junky meal per day!!! "I know, but I can't make him do that." Well, no one is saying you can, but you can't be infuriated at his doctor because he can't prescribe some magic pill that is going to undo constant, daily xenobiotic choices such as smoking and subsisting on Red Bull! GET REAL.
As for the neighbor herself, she also thinks her own doctor should prescribe medicines that will make all her problems go away. She is constantly asking him to up her anti-depressants. She is only eating one meal per day, too...like I said, don't get me started. I just can't believe the irony in the fact that the woman who turned me on to something that has been, and continues to be, such a source of empowerment in my life, herself won't take responsibility for any of her own physical or emotional health and happiness, and just goes around as a venomous sack of fuming blame for everyone in her life who has let her down, including the horrible doctors who can't fix her life or her kid's life in the face of all the UNHEALTHY choices they continue to make on a daily basis.

P.S. I keep telling her, get your son onto Dr. D'Adamo's arthritis diet..."I can't make him do anything!" I know, I know, but again: then don't fume away to me about how hideous the doctor is because he "isn't helping him!" Again: anyone who lives on Red Bull and cigarettes is going to have trouble functioning in life. There ain't no magic pill for that. You have to make the choices and do the work.
Geez!

Dr. is hostage to one-size-fits-all thinking. Using his assumptions, the diets appear wrong; unscientifically, he is not letting evidence lead him to appropriate conclusions.

Sounds like the more you push, the more she will resist, PT.
Perhaps there is the need for an invitational brochure, "You have heard of Eat Right for Your Type, but now there is more for you to explore!" To tie in with the "What is your level of personal discovery?" I should take a look on Eric's site.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude: I am not pushing this chick at all, in fact, I cannot STAND her, unbeknownst to her, since August of 2005. Long story that I won't bore you with. But the bottom line is that I only speak to her if she calls me. She is oblivious to the fact that I detest her, on account of she never lets anyone get a word in edgewise and she never listens to people, so, because of that and other numerous reasons, there is no point in me mentioning my detestation of her, I've concluded after lots of soul searching. So she calls me up and goes on and on about how much she hates her life and how it is everybody else's fault in the world (mostly her ex-husband's). She never takes an ounce of responsibility for her own choices or life. Anyway, so on the rare occasions that I do attempt to get a word in edgewise, I am all about tough love anymore...only without the love part (as, like I said, I detest this person). SHE is the one who decided to go on a jag re how awful her son's doctor is because "He's not helping him!", and how she is going to find a diff doctor. It was only then that I pointed out, hmmmmmm, didja ever think that no doctor will be able to help your son, no matter what magic pills s/he prescribes, if your son continues to live on Red Bull and cigarettes? "I can't make him do anything!" I know, but news flash, NEITHER CAN A DOCTOR IN A NICE WHITE COAT. Prescriptions couldn't help Michael Jackson or Anna Nicole Smith or anyone else who REFUSES TO CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOR.
Ooooooh, just thinking about this woman gets my blood boiling. I'd better stop. I'll conclude with a positive statement about her: she is the one who showed me ER4YT back in 1997. For that, I will always be grateful. But even that was not enough to offset everything else, especially one thing from 2005. Just trust me, this woman is a piece of work the likes of which one rarely encounters in life. She is the single most negative, venomous, self-entitled, toxic individual I've ever known. And I mean toxic as in, toxic to those around her. Which is why I try NOT to be. You'd think in four years she would have picked up on the fact that I detest her, and I think she has finally concluded that she detests me because I never call her, which is fine with me. I'm fact, I'm thrilled and relieved: yay, she isn't speaking to me!!!! But she is still totally oblivious to how I feel. Normally, I'm a big believer in getting things out in the open and talking them out, but with this person, and in this case, even I have to conclude that there is NO POINT in attempting to talk to her about anything. She doesn't even deserve an explanation, in my opinion. That is the first person in my entire life who I ever didn't even want to try to heal a relationship with. Like I said, I can't stand her. ....Oooops, so much for ending this on a positive note. Well, it is positive, because avoiding her is about as positive for me as avoiding wheat or any other toxin: it's a good thing.

PT - I did, in fact, mean to say that she thought you were pushing. Please accept the humble apologies of your servant. The D' Adamo Personalized Nutrition Discovery Levels cannot be pushed too far or too fast imo ...
She is "psychologically bleeding." At the least, the marital relationship needs to be cauterized. She "enjoys" her complaints too much to do anything about them. The headaches that I could have saved myself from trying to help such people .... And look: notice a parent, who shirks personal responsibility, has raised a son who does the same. Will the wonders never cease! /end sarc.
Maybe this hallowe'en you could lay her needy vanity to R.I.P.
I know more subcutaneous people than you - but I have working in call centers for the past five years. The psychological damage from that drove me to gain the last 50 lbs.
Rex, I spoke with a woman who says she doesn't eat wheat to avoid arthritis, so I have had a little of you usual frustration. If you had access to a card with the official Website logo etc, would that have helped you?
I would be interested in purchasing some business cards from the Store, but it doesn't seem right/ethical to print something on my own initiative. All due respect to Eric for his "evangelistic" way of marketing - I am not knocking his choice, but seeking to find a different way to the same end.

Was researching EPO again as I just decided to re-start taking it, even though it is not exactly recommended for O's... Very happy to say my skin is getting so much smoother & softer in the short time I have been back on it & no problems re nose bleeds Sooo am resurrecting this thread as still not sure, especially re your recommendation PT...for my O customer, as above??
