Could SWAMI be messing up because of the changes Dr. D is making?

I changed my taster status to "slight taster" to see what would happen.

I did taste the very lightest something, but it was definitely delayed -- the taste appeared after I drank a sip of water and ate an almond a few minutes after the strip.

Changes to taster status may change GenoType assigned by SWAMI.

You can always change taster status back to its original value and see whether your diet report is the same as before.

Under non-taster, I'm still Warrior.

It would be helpful if someone could tell me what "slight taster" means as far as the strip. As I mentioned, I did have a slight 'broccoli' taste - but delayed. Nobody else using the same strips reported any taste, delayed or otherwise.

I tried another strip just now. I got an instantaneous 'bitter, stinging' sensation in one tiny, tiny spot on my tongue -- lasted about 1 second, then nothing.

I wonder about these strips - I contacted the seller - he doesn't send control strips -- all are taster strips, and white.

I switched my SWAMI entry to "Super-Taster" and it changed my genotype to Explorer!

My understanding is if you can taste it but not get a horribly screwed up face from the taste, you are a slight taster.  Other wise you are a taster.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know for sure I'm not a super-taster - I just clicked it on in SWAMI to see what would happen! Warrior - Teacher - Explorer

It was more a stinging sensation and instantaneous bitter taste in one tiny spot on my tongue -- almost not there. I'm talking less than a second. Then a delayed very, very mild broccoli "sensation" about 3 minutes later.

I wish I had one of those yellow strips instead of the ones I got.

My taster status changes depending on if I do the test in the morning or evening... I find it possibly related to my thyroid medication I take and how much of it is in my system?

I thought it was strange that the choices in SWAMI were nontaster, slight taster, and supertaster, without just "taster."

I taste it.  Oh yeah.  But I can sort of stand it.  But my face usually goes weird.  It is delayed though.

I'm sticking with Warrior until I can get some other brand of taster strips to try. This just makes me want to get my secretor status checked. If I could find a list of Nonnie traits, I could see how closely I fit.

Sometimes taster status is a big deal. especially if it sets off other findings which were ignored as part of the previous genotype determination.

Oh yeah, definitely get your secretor status done. It helps alot with your food selections, even if you still turn out to be a Warrior. I believe Ribbit gets mo' meat than me because of her nonnieness..(I could be wrong)

Someone is sending me one of the yellow taster strips. I have no qualms about switching back to Teacher if I am a taster ... I'm just tired from all the thinking and studying.

What matters more is the foods you are supposed to eat. Is the list much different?
I doubt it. Watch the foods that are different & test how you react to them.  I know I'm probably very borderline, but I have a good diet to go on which seems more accurate than the other O variations(secretor, nonnie, hunter, gatherer) I tried.
Even if your diet is not perfect yet(I'm sure mine isn't), would you want to go back to the SAD?

My SWAMI Teacher food lists are different enough from SWAMI Warrior food lists.

I lost a lot of weight quickly on BTD Type A, and also the Teacher diet my first few weeks on GTD.

When I switched to Warrior and didn't follow the list all that well, I stopped losing weight. I didn't gain.

When I chose "Nonnie" under Warrior and tried harder to get in 6 cups of veggies per day, I started losing weight again.

I did the test at Dr. D's office. They just had me put the strip in my mouth and then take it out and she asked me if I can taste anything. So I don't think "after sip" and food is relevant to the test.
So you sound like a non taster?

This is all funny because I feel like I have a hault on energy and weight loss. I am going to go get some romano/manchego cheese from the Teacher list because it seems to fix this probably so long as I get probiotics to some degree as well.

With out the teacher cheese everything becomes really irregular. SWAMI believes I am a warrior, and maybe I am to some degree, but not cheese wise so far... unless I am just treating a problem. Regardless the problem does exist.

My Swami has given me a couple of hard cheeses that I havn't used for years-pecorino and parmesan--I am so pleased and disposes of any lingering sense of restriction.
Also the 6 cups of vegs. is amazing--so filling without unduly raising blood sugar. If only I didn't have a tribe of possums who visit my garden regularly and strip most of the green vegs away. I think it is time to think seriously about a little food garden igloo.

Jenny so funny !
There was a possum in our garage hiding after we locked up the other day.  Trying to get out knocked half full oil container down.  The lid flew off and oil all over half of the garage including newly washed car and tyres so we couldn't drive anywhere!  bikes weren't affected so I rode down the road for some degreaser.  Some good came of it, clean garage and started riding bikes again - great fun.

Cute and cuddly aussie wildlife hey!

What about a chicken wire enclosure hooked up to an old car battery that would give a harmless little zap?  We were talking about the possums attacking our tomato bushes and thought of that.  Too cruel?  I don't think so.

Given my experience moving from the Explorer diet to Teacher, the cheeses seem to be a critical part of the GTD, designed to bring balance. (Of course, my perspective comes from being a Teacher.) Too bad it can take time to discover that a diet is the wrong one (although once you've been on the wrong one for a long time, the right one can seem particularly right). I wish I had questioned whether the diet was right for me long before I did. At least I decided to look into remeasuring instead of dropping it altogether.

That's interesting about the taster strip issue. That must be frustrating to have such a tiny response that it's questionable.

Chandon that is the one thing making me disagree with SWAMI. The cheese on the Teacher diet makes me balanced. It makes me right with the world. I need probiotics too but... without it I slowly drift out of balanced health. I am going to be trying different taster strips as that is why SWAMI put me in the Warrior classification. If I put no answer for that part I get Teacher even as a non-secreter. (I am going to try sodium benzoate ones, PROP, instead of PTC paper as the instructions note some people taste one but not the other)

I might have some warriorish things in my DNA, like the ability to eat less food, but cheese... That with probiotics is the most key element to my health at this point.
