Okay, some of you might be following my drama:  I'm on the BRINK between Hunter and Explorer, and every little move pushes me to one side or the other.

I realized I do have white lines, that pushed me to Hunter.

But now I'm thinking:  Am I really Northern European or maybe Central ?... My ancestry is Irish, Scottish, English, Italian, French, Portuguese.

If I put 'northern' in, I'm a Hunter.  If I put 'central' in, I'm an explorer.

I have white lines as well!
let s see what your secretor status shows, if every other detail has already been taken care of.

As Lola said, you should really try to identify your secretor status to correctly identify your type. This will be more important than your ancestry.

I would consider Irish, Scottish, English-- Northern European
I would consider French -- Western European
I would consider Italian, Portuguese -- Southern European

The only choice that incorporates all the countries of your ancestry is "Eurasian"

If you wanted to figure out which region might have contributed more your genetic profile. You could test for your "Mitochondrial DNA Haplogroup" and your father's (or brother's) Y Chromosome DNA Haplogroup.

For determining your GenoType the secretor status should play greater role than your haplogroup. I would only test the haplogroups if you are interested in this information.

What you describe is generically thought to be 'Western European.'

Thank you, I didn't see the 'Western' option!

Again, I'd probably use Western European.

No, my list is good.  It seems like a blend of each of the possible type O gentotypes, but specific to my input.  So it doesn't include much dairy, which I already knew bothered me.  If I follow the diamonds, I think I would lose weight.  It's learning the list, and then utilizing it that is the key I think.

My GT doesn't change, but my foods do slightly -
I just got my Haplogroup and it's a "J", and says
something about Northeastern Europe. There is not really
a selection for that in SWAMI. I had Southern Europe since
three of my grandparents were from Italy. However, I do have
one grandmother from the Ukraine. Still can't pick weather to
use Central, Northern, or Southern.....
I guess it's not making a big enough difference at this point,
but I like to be as accurate as possible (might be the difference
in one of my favorite foods)

How do you get aware of your haplo group? Sorry that I'm totally unaware of that detail.

The Genographic Project (National Geographic):

https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/journey.html

You order a kit and submit your DNA. Takes about 8 weeks to get results.

Thanks for the information! Very interesting but not cheap (which was predictable). How substantial that information is with SWAMI analysis?

you can always run your swami again with those results and see for yourself.

that s the beauty about swami express.....can be run as often as you like!!

Just got my SWAMI and curious about the same thing-- Dad's grandparents all from Denmark (his mom was born there, I even know where in Denmark they came from)and Mom's grandparents all came from NE Hungary (foothills of the Carpathian mountains), all from about a 50 mile radius of each other.

But my kit from NG never got here. So I haven't done the Haplotype thing yet

I used Western European because I wasn't sure what else to do.

I am a non-secretor and read the Explorer material (typed out as Explorer before SWAMI and with my strength-testing and stuff SWAMI gave me 51%).

I know there is a lot of fine-tuning I need to do though.

Wow, I just ordered my ancestry kit on line, rushed it placing order for both mother and father lines, but being a woman, I can only do mother side of things!!!  Sent e-mail to see what can I do.  To complicate things, my brother is in Texas (I am in Australia), both parents deceased and my son is in Las Vegas too (although not sure if it counts)...

A bit confused with the whole thing.  But it will be nice to complete my swami with this info!!!

I think you would have to have your brother do the test for you to benefit from the information...  I think if your son did it, the information would follow his Dad's ancestry line, rather than your Dad's...  Just my thoughts, though...

Yes, that is what I thought! I hope they come to the party and refund the money or give me a credit for my brother to use in US.  It will be ridicoulus for him to send his saliva all the way from Texas to Melbourne in Australia.  I wonder if the Ancestry project is link that way worldwide?

Also, my brother is the only chance I have of following the lineage on my fathers side?!! No uncles either ...
