Anyone ever experience a burning heat sensation (not painful) in the lower intestinal tract...any thoughts on what it could be would be welcome. I've had it for the last two days and it's a little uncomfortable |

Are you referring to your descending colon, or your rectum?
Have you eaten a lot of spicy foods?
Have you had any history of IBS? If so, it can sometimes reappear in a different place with different symptoms.
Have you made major changes to your diet recently?
Have you been under unusual stress? |

no history of IBS and I've ruled that out already cause I have none of the classic symptoms...a little stress...I can sleep at night no problem. Spicy foods...maybe..introduced curry and turmeric into my diet as the are beneficial but I don't eat them everyday. Changes to my diet...O diet and Hunter diet are very close...just less gluten then before |

Have you noticed any significant changes in the type or frequency of your bowel movements?
Have you had a sigmoidoscopy recently?
Any medications which are new? |

mikeo - I've had the exact same thing for about the last week (also without any of the other things you've been asked about). I talked to my husband about it and we came to the unprofessional conclusion that my GTD is different enough from my BTD diet that it's my body getting adjusted to the newer version. I especially feel this is true because, overall, the GTD list seems to be working out as a much better "fit" than my BTD list. Can you say the same?
For Teachers (which I know you cannot be since you're an O), the book says that we need bifidobacteria probiotics (which work in the lower gut as far as I know) and that we gain weight/get messed up because of an overgrowth of bad bacterias in our gut. So, I'm guessing my bad bacteria is dying off and being replaced with the good. Could you be having the O equivalent?
Each time it happens to me, it has been less often and for a shorter duration when it does happen. Is this true for you? getting worse? no change?
Another idea: could it be too many nuts? In the past (pre-GTD) I noticed if I ate too many peanuts (too frequent) it would happen, but that was stomach & upper G.I.
Once again, just ideas, all guesses.
edited by me (Chanur) to add extra thoughts I had |

I have had this when I followed the GTD (in addition to severe backpain). Since I have stopped the GTD, the burning heat sensation has gone (the backpain not yet). |

I figured because I have really lessoned the amount of gluten in my diet being a hunter now. I had a bit of a break from it today but it's funny other people have had the same symptoms...sounds like there is a bit of a war going on in the intestinal tract. I 'm not going to stop the GTD since I am in no pain and have noticed I am less moody |

It will be interesting to see if the burning diminishes as your body becomes accustomed to less gluten. |

Could be lots of things..
1. Internal hemorrhoids 2. Mild prostatitis 3. Mild proctititis 4. Diverticulitis
Best product would be the ARA-Plus with quercetin. Take lots.. etc.
Best give it a day or to more, then get yourself checked out. |

Mike, I wonder whether less gluten has lead to a little cleansing of some sort. For me, it is gluten (well, particularly wheat) that makes my colon feel like someone is rubbing sandpaper on it. It's been a while, though, so I forget whether the feeling hung on or intensified when I cut it back out.
My 2 cents - make sure you are getting sufficient good fats (don't know the Hunter profile on that one, though). (The ARA IS very nice, too.)

What types of tests were performed?
For instance, tests showing diverticulitis may include:
CT scan revealing thickening of the inflamed area Abdominal palpation showing left lower quadrant mass Elevated white blood cell count |

Mike, I would think it might be the turmeric. It made me have sort of an itchy skin reaction, and a sense of warmth the few times I took it a year or so back. I was taking it because I read in an east/west health book that it was good for the intestines, kind of along with probiotics following....but I had this weird skin reaction. I didn't turn red or anything, but felt itchy. I am guessing that it could be that. Try to leave it out for a while and see if it is the turmeric.... |

Hello I am new to this forum and noticed this post and wanted to reply.
I have recently started the Blood type diet and have cut grains out virtually apart from brown rice and sometimes oats. I have noticed this burning sensation too in my lower abdomen, although not painful, its more disturbing, like a kind of radiating friction kind of heat.
Could this be due to the radical changes in my diet? Funnily enough the abdominal distension I used to experience daily has went down dramatically and I can feel that I am not suffering much with water retention anymore. I also feel sort of lightheaded and floaty and wondered if this is all just because I have eliminated the avoid foods all at once ie chicken wheat corn tomatoes etc.
Any advice on what other people experienced when they first started the diet would be useful.
Thanks |

It's possible it's your bladder also. Or the line from your bladder to your kidneys. Or it could be your guts. Food sensitivities, IBS, something of that nature. You heard the Doctor. I get it sometimes when I suspect I'm filtering out some kind of toxin also. And then it's my bladder and all that. But it feels like guts. |
