Well it's my 49th on Saturday.. yup the big one before the ole' step up to 50! I feel good about it as I've gotten rid of so much emotional stress and been through so many changes as a human being and finally found a place in me that feels real. Life seems to always continue it's challenges no matter how far you feel you've come, but I'm very happy to be where I've come to and now that I'm really feeling the results of this eating regime, wow... Sometimes I wish someone would have knocked me over the head with an "ER4YT brick" 6 years ago when I came across this science and then said 'Just do it!' Instead I had to mess around for 6 years sticking my toes in the water tenetively - not wanting to give up the foods that were making me sick (little did I know it!) Now 6 years later embarking on this, my cholestrol has never been higher and I've got this osteoarthritis going on (as you've seem from my other posts). I mean in 6 years I went from a 145 cholerestol level to 200! I was shocked. But the thing that broke me was finding out I had this arthritis in my body. I cried and realized that I can't mess around anymore with my food. So... anyway... blah, blah, blah... the question is: Some folks are taking me for chinese food and I thought, well I'll take 4 Deflect an hour before and 4 after... is that right - four? Maybe this will protect me a little. Plus I'm going to get something with lots of vegies and not deep fried and no won tons or anything fried or corn based. There will also be a small scoop of ice creme afterwards. NO CAKE. Not unless I bake it with Spelt! ha.. Thanks...and happy Thanksgiving to all! |

Hey, a fellow '58er! We're pretty rare. A very happy birthday to you, and many happy returns of the day! When you go to the restaurant, you might ask if your food can be cooked without MSG or soy sauce. If the menu has a dieter's section, check it out--often the offerings there are sauce- and cornstarch-free, or are much less compromised than the regular menu items. As you mentioned, staying away from fried stuff, wontons etc will help quite a bit. And yes, make sure to take Deflect before and especially right after the meal. You'll still feel some effects, but not nearly as much as you would otherwise. Have fun on your birthday! Sounds like it'll be a good time. |

Well I took 4 Deflect an hour before dinner and 4 afterwards and don't feel as much stomach stress or bloating as I would usually. And we never made it for ice creme which is a good thing for this O actually! So back onto the plan full fledge. I've got Swiss chard ready to cook in the morning! One happy birthday girl. |

Happy birthday, funkymuse! Ah, to be 49 again! No use my dreaming, though. I don't know how much deflect a person should take so I guess you got it right. I don't do Chinese because of the amount of salt but I wish I could. |

Right you are, Lola! I'm very happy in my new home and my new neighborhood and with my life but there are sometimes during the day when I reminisce back to earlier days in my life and I get a little "homesick" for those days again. |
