Hello,

I've recently purchased the SWAMI software. One of the questions there is: Are you lactose intolerant? As I had no idea about that I decided to look for food intolerance tests. I found one that tests you for 600 different products which I thought was great (all I had to do was to send them few strands of my hair). I've just received my results... Although I now know that I am lactose tolerant I also know that my body doesn't tolerate some items that are supposed to be highly beneficial to me according to the GenoType diet (I am a Hunter). Some of them are:
- DUCK
- SOLE
- EGG WHITE (according to SWAMI I should eat up to 10 eggs a week!)
- PUMPKIN
- CRANBERRIES
- ANISE
- GINGER

What surprised me even more was that the test didn't show that I was intolerant to grains and milk which are supposed to be really bad for me according to SWAMI...

I will still follow the GT diet however I will eliminate the 'superfoods' which, I now know, my body doesn't like. I also thought - wouldn't it be a great idea to include the food intolerance results in the SWAMI software? That would make it even a better tool! Only a suggestion;-)

different systems allow different outcomes ....I think we all need to see the different approaches but also the difference between those tests, too. I'm working with bioresonance and it shows up what's up with a person instantly... in the here and now... my genotests are hugely different from the BTD/GTD tests... but it seems that I've less food intolerances then before the times of BTD...that makes now nearly 20 years..... .....I also observed that the given proposals from BTD/GTD are almost very accurate then other tests I've seen...

Not knowing how those tests work or having specific experience with them, I can't comment on the efficacy of it...

SWAMI doesn't know your specific allergies, so it can't include them.  It is up to us to control any known allergen intake in addition to SWAMI's output.

One good thing is that after following SWAMI for some time to heal the digestive system, you may become less sensitive to the allergenic foods!

There is a difference between food allergy and food intolerance. If you have a food allergy, even a tiny amount of the offending food can cause an immediate, severe reaction. Food intolerance symptoms generally come on gradually and don't involve an immune system reaction. That's why people usually know what foods they are allergic to but quite rarely know what foods their bodies don't tolerate.

follow your swami, tweaking according to your intolerances

your gut will heal slowly, yet surely

a food log is sound practice

I've had some experience with this.  The tests we've had done show allergies in TWO ways.  IGg and IGe.  IGg are food antibodies and more like an intolerance, but is still called an allergy.  The IGe's are classic allergies and are more of a genetic thing and may never go away.  The IGg's can go away with gut healing, to a degree.  Or basically the worse the gut is, the more leaky gut you have, the more food antibodies you will make.

I think Joe meant an allergy to mean any food that doesn't work for your body.  Whether it be a food antibody or classic allergy doesn't really matter for this discussion.  SWAMI will NOT know these things and a person has to adjust his diet to avoid things that may not be good.   For example, my son is an A and is HIGHLY allergic to fish and nuts.  The two type of protein that SHOULD be good to an A according to BTD/GTD.  The fish and nut allergies are IGe allergies and will probably never go away.  He did ALSO had / have quite a few food antibody allergies.  Which seem to be getting better as he has gotten older and all the work we've done with his diet and supplements.

But what Lola said covers it in 3 short sentences instead of this long convoluted answer that I gave.  .

Thank you for all your replies - however short or convoluted;-) I found something helpful in all of them.
Now that I've got my SWAMI and my food intolerance results I can put the two together and enjoy my new diet adventure. What makes me think is this - what if hadn't gone for the test and ate those 10 eggs a week?

I too have experience of this! As a practitioner I use food intolerance tests(blood sample which measures IgG antibodies), I'm not so familiar with a hair strand test..but cannot imagine how it could test for 600 foods
For IgG antibodies to show up in a test, the foods must be in your system..in my experience most people eat a very narrow range of foods, nowhere near 600 different ones!

So when I do a test for a client, I take into consideration both test results and blood type...I've had the rare occasion when O's have shown intolerance for beef ..but exactly as Lola quite wisely points out, healing the gut is the most important as then you can benefit from the beneficial foods for your BT and those on your SWAMI.

Yeah, I have no opinion about if a hair test is good for this.  We had blood tests done by Genova Diagnostics which I think is the same place as Great Smoky Labs.

Who recommended this hair test?

Nobody recommended this hair test; I found it through the internet search. As I mentioned in my first post the only reason I looked for intolerance tests was because one of the questions in the SWAMI was: 'Are you lactose intolerant?'... The company I found says on their website:
'We are an established clinic with over 10 years experience dedicated to helping people restore their body’s natural balance. Using the latest in bio-technology our “One Step Test” allows us to test against more than 600 substances. We are now one of the largest providers of intolerance tests in the UK. We have agencies in 15 countries and the majority of other companies offering hair sample testing now use our clinic. (...) The only online test for nearly 600 food and non food items. (...) Apart from being less invasive and considerably cheaper from comparison tests carried out by our clients, we believe our test is as accurate (if not more accurate) than the blood tests.'

you can use all kind of body liquids and they will show up + - the same results but it depends what kind of testmodus option/ system... is used... blood tests aren't working in the préclinical issues... but bioresonance does... ... here lays the difference in comeing along with prevention !!!!

Aaaah.  That makes perfect sense.  I hope I didn't sound skeptical.  I guess the truth be told I am  a tad. But really, it's only because it's different than how we did it.  So....  It may be a perfectly sound test.  At least it gives you an idea that you might be intolerant to some foods and if you eat them and feel weird, you'll know why.
