Tumeric is very powerful anti cancer spice.
I am reading that adding black pepper could increase tumeric absorption by 1,000 times.

Tumeric is diamond and black pepper is avoid on my Swami.
I have tumor issue now.
What would be the beneficial option, adding a black pepper to tumeric or not?

I think the others will tell you to stick to BTD, GT or swami.
I do know that black pepper is highly regarded and used in Ayurvedic healing.
Tumeric alone is still great! hope all goes well.

I would not use an avoid.  Looking through the Cancer book or Typebase (looking for Cancer Superbeneficial foods for your type) would be great information.

Dr. D'Adamo also has a supplement called Helix Plus which helps type A and AB recognize and remove cancer cells.

w/o black pepper extract. Each capsule contains 425 mg turmeric root. I bought 2 bottles.

Thank you everyone.

I am going to increase tumeric in my cooking without black pepper.
I prefer food than supplement.

This company has a product line named 'super food'. In the accompanying journal they explain, that if the turmeric root is harvested when ripe, i.e., after growing inside the earth for 5 years, its absorption is optimal and there's no need for other ingredients. They claim that the piperin may cause over heating, which we would like to avoid. The said naturopath told me that they also claim, that they harvest the turmeric root after being 7 years in the earth.

Their recommended dosage is 2 capsules, 1-3 times daily.

Here is Dr. D's recommendation in the Cancer Prevention Support Protocols for A and AB (Online Support above):
  • Scienca (Turmeric: Curcuma longa Root): 460 mg, 2 capsules, twice daily with meals

http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/9.html

The supplement is surely going to strengthen you by far more than the spice, although the spice is just lovely. I cook with turmeric all the time, every day, often more than once, and as of yesterday I've begun to take turmeric also as supplement.

Adding black pepper will do very little to enhance absorption of turmeric (curcumin), as the agent that does this is piperine and to get enough piperine to actually enhance absorption you'd need to take about 2-4 tsp of black pepper with each dose. Piperine doesn't work by increasing absorption of curcumin (turmeric),  but rather by delaying its breakdown in the liver. Many of those reactions (glucuronidations)  are also important for the detoxification of xenobiotics (man-made toxins) and other metabolic byproducts (estrogens).

In the long run the best thing is long-term, low dose usage without mucking with your liver's detox abilities.

An easy way to do that is a homemade curry with many beneficials.

Mine contains turmeric as a featured ingredient and is used daily.

Yes!  I find this to be true, as well.  When I dealt with a cancer 13 years ago, I followed 100% Dr. D's book on cancer as well as his supplement protocol.  This was alongside the standard M.D. approach.

Definitely get the Cancer book by Dr D. It's very positive, helpful and full of useful information and advice. I have read it twice and given it to many people.

Dr D has a supplement with turmeric

Cancer protocol her http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/9.html

turmeric product here http://www.4yourtype.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NP059

It also has quercetin in it and Bromelain.

To enhance the efficacy of turmeric, Dr. D'Adamo blended in quercetin, known as the 'queen of the antioxidants.' Antioxidants scavenge molecules in the body known as free radicals, which damage cell membranes, tamper with DNA, and even cause cell death. Quercetin is found in many foods, including apples, onions, berries and brassica vegetables. To complete the formula, he added Bromelain, an enzyme derived from pineapple stems. Bromelain has been used since ancient times as an anti-inflammatory enzyme and research shows that when used in conjunction with turmeric, it increases its absorption and effectiveness.

Here's a Curcumin/Fenugreek Complex that is claimed to be absorbed 20 times better than plain curcumin.                                                                                                              http://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-superior-herbs-controlled-release-curqfen-60-veg-caps

I just ordered a whole pound of organic turmeric. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE turmeric! I blend it with cardamom, garlic, etc., to give it more bang. I keep it in a nice shaker bottle, and it gets used every single day - sometimes more than once! I used to take it in capsules, but I decided I loved this stuff so much that I may as well enjoy the taste of it too!

If you can buy tumeric whole, do so.  Shavings from the fresh root are sweeter than the powdered spice.  You'll want to add it to many foods and even tea!

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Answering my own question

Curcumin is one of several curcuminoids, which are polyphonic compounds, present in turmeric.

Turmeric contains approximately 2 percent curcumin by weight, so a tablespoon of turmeric, which weighs 6.8 grams, contains about 0.136 gram curcumin, or 136 milligrams.

In addition to curcumin, turmeric also contains smaller amounts of the curcuminoids demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Researchers believe curcumin to be the most biologically active curcuminoid in turmeric.
